the royal couple took to the stage at the second annual Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony to unveil the 2022 winners 

William and Kate were joined by an impressive group of activists, innovators and policy makers to celebrate the fifteen global Finalists.

 After a spectacular evening of entertainment featuring the likes of Billie Eilish and Annie Lennox, the royal couple finally unveiled the five worthy winners. 

Congratulations are in order for Mukuru Clean Stoves, Kheyti, the Indigenous Women of the Great Barrier Reef, Notpla and 44.01., 

who are all set to receive a staggering £1million prize to develop their innovative projects.

Upon arrival, the Princess signed a visitors book previously signed by the King in 1986.

Kensington Palace said: "The Harvard Center focuses on leveraging advances in science to inform the policy landscape and to increase the impact of programs. Her Royal Highness will have a discussion with researchers about the advances in science that can be harnessed to achieve a promising future for every child."


 visited the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University, the cause is close to her heart due to her ongoing work to highlight the importance of early years when it comes to later life outcomes. She also held discussions with researchers about ongoing recent advances in science can increase the impact of the ongoing work.

The Princess of Wales has history with the institution, with it being linked to the Royal Foundation and the more recent Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood. She came well prepared for her visit, carrying with her a notebook full of ideas and questions for the researchers.

Upon arrival, the royal signed the guest book, which was also done by King Charles when he visited the institution back in 1986

She praised the work of those there, saying: "There is so much amazing work going on and we need to start sharing the learning and science and what can be done better and be improved to help children in the trajectory into adult life. It is frustrating because I'd like to be here for days."

After the trip, Kate went on a walkaround outside the venue meeting with crowds that had gathered

Prince William joined members of the Kennedy family ahead of his glitzy star-studded Earthshot Prize gala tonight 


arrived at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum shortly after his wife got to Harvard, and he was greeted by the Kennedy clan


The meeting between William and the Kennedys is particularly significant, because it comes after the American dynasty was dragged into the ongoing rift between the Sussexes and the rest of the royal family 


Caroline (seen with son Jack) had been due to join William and Kate at the official Earthshot launch on Wednesday night, however she was forced to cancel after inclement weather delayed her flight from New York City 


The Kennedys accompanied Prince William for a short tour around the library and museum, which highlights JFK’s political legacy and his Moonshot program, which challenged America to put man on the moon and inspired the Earthshot Prize


shown exhibits from the pivotal years of the Kennedy Administration in the 1960s, ahead of the moon landing in 1969, including a facsimile of JFK’s famous 'We choose to go to the Moon' speech


'Incredible,' William said, as he looked at the speech


'What was he trying to do here?' he asked, pointing out JFK’s hand-written annotations on the speech, to which the late President's grandson replied: 'To a lot of people, he was trying to justify the investment that was going to be needed'


From there, William was delighted to meet President Joe Biden. The President had another engagement in Boston and schedules were arranged to ensure the meeting could take place.

  • The Prince and Princess of Wales are hosting a glitzy gala ceremony for William's Earthshot Prize in Boston this evening - with a slew of stars turning out for the event
  • Kate, 40, looked dazzling in a vibrant off-the-shoulder green dress by Solace London, which she rented from fashion rental platform HURR, which charges between $91 (£74) and $238 (£194) to loan the gown
  • She paired the dress with a diamond-and-emerald choker that once belonged to her late mother-in-law Diana, who was gifted the necklace - thought to be worth more than $15 million - by the Queen
  • This evening's event marks the finale of the Waleses' three-day US tour - which has been dramatically overshadowed by royal controversies


Dubbed Prince William's "Superbowl moment," the glitzy ceremony drew an A-list crowd at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston.

Among those presenting awards were Oscar-winning actor Rami Malek, Home Alone and Schitt's Creek star Catherine O'Hara and environmental activist and Big Little Lies star Shailene Woodley

William described the finalists as "innovators, leaders, and visionaries" and said they proved there are "many reasons to be optimistic about the future of our planet".

He went on to say: "They are directing their time, energy, and talent towards bold solutions with the power to not only solve our planet's greatest environmental challenges, but to create healthier, more prosperous, and more sustainable communities for generations to come".

Prince William and Kate have concluded their visit to Boston by attending the The Earthshot Prize awards ceremony. The royal couple greeted stars including David Beckham, Rami Malek, Ellie Goulding, Annie Lennox, Catherine O'Hara, Chloe and Halle Bailey. The event recognises five winners each year for their contributions to solving environmental problems, awarding them with a £1m grant to support their work.





William put on a dapper display in a black tuxedo, keeping things classic with a dark navy velvet jacket and a black bow tie, while also sporting an Omega watch
























accessorized her neon green number - which she no doubt wore in keeping with the eco-friendly theme of the evening - with a diamond-and-emerald choker necklace that used to belong to her late mother-in-law Princess Diana


The choker necklace worn by Kate - which was gifted to Queen Mary during a trip to India - is perhaps most famous for being worn by Diana on her head during her and then-Prince Charles' tour of Australia in 1985 




Kate, whose rented gown featured a daring split up the back, allowing her to show off her dazzling heels, held hands with her husband as they made their way inside the MGM Music Hall 




Ever the gentleman, William put a reassuring hand on Kate's back 






He ended the evening with a note of optimism, saying: 'The decisions we make now will affect generations to come, which is why we must choose the path of hope, optimism, and urgency to repair our planet'

Once inside the event, William took to the stage to make a speech, in which he thanked the people of Boston for giving the Earthshot Prize such a warm welcome, before going on to pay tribute to John F. Kennedy

Rami Malek,41, who was also seen chatting with the couple, said he had been inspired to support Earthshot after meeting William at the premiere of Bond movie No Time to Die in September last year

'I appreciate what Prince William's doing. In the next 10 years I think the impact will be staggering. We can really affect change in the greatest way with these innovators who are being awarded this evening,' Rami said before the event

  • Pots will be 'wrapped in burlap' to ensure they are as green as possible

  • Vegan and cruelty-free makeup is being used
  • Any catering provided will be vegetarian or vegan and locally sourced
  • Attendees will walk down a 'green carpet', which has been re-used from last year's event - and will recycled after tonight's gala

  • Any unavoidable flights have been recorded and the CO2e impacts were calculated and balanced via a ‘book & claim’ scheme using Sustainable Aviation Fuel

The emerald and diamond choker, which matches the green theme of Kate's outfit, used to belong to her late mother-in-law Princess Diana, who once famously wore the piece as a headband.

She was photographed wearing the necklace around her head during the 1985 tour of Australia she undertook with then-husband, Prince Charles.

The royal donned the unusual headgear while attending a gala dinner dance at the Southern Cross Hotel on October 31, 1985 in Melbourne.

According to reports, the look emerged from a happy accident: the royal tried to pull it on over her head, but couldn't pull it over her nose, allegedly prompting her to comment: 'My honker's too big.'

But Canadian diplomat Victor Chapman, who was present, recommended she wear the piece as it was, describing the look as 'young and fun, like you'.
