母の死を知ったかについて語られている。

8月31日、事故当日
夏休暇で
チャールズ皇太子とともに、
バルモラルに滞在中だったお二人

父チャールズ皇太子から、
その事実をお聞きに。

William adds, “I remember feeling completely numb, disorientated, dizzy — and you feel very very confused. And you keep asking yourself, ‘Why me?’ the whole time. Why? What have I done, why has this happened to us?”

The family decided to remain at Balmoral, keeping the grieving princes away from the pressures of London — but disquiet about that decision built in the week leading up to Diana’s funeral on September 6, as the British public wanted some sign of the family sharing their sorrow.

The Queen, William says, “felt very torn between being the grandmother to William and Harry and her Queen role, and I think everyone was taken aback of what happened and the speed it happened.”

William’s aunt, Diana’s sister Lady Sarah McCorquodale, says in the documentary that she supports the Queen’s decision. “She did absolutely the right thing. If I’d been her, I’d have done that. Why would you bring them into London? Why don’t you let them get over the shock, or the start of the shock in the bosom of their family?”

Says William: “All of us were in new territory. My grandmother and my father believed we were better served in Balmoral, having the walks and space and the peace to be with the
family and not be immersed or having to deal with serious decision or worries straightaway.”

まだ、スマホなどがなかったことも、
今思うと良かったですねえ、、

“At the time, you know, my grandmother wanted to protect her two grandsons, and my father as well. Our grandmother deliberately removed the newspapers, and things like that, so there was nothing in the house at all. So we didn’t know what was going on,” William tells the makers of Diana, 7 Days.

“One of the hardest things for a parent to have to do is tell your children that your other parent has died. How you deal with that, I don’t know,” says Harry. “But he was there for us. He was the one out of two left. And he tried to do his best and to make sure that we were protected and looked after. But he was going through the same grieving process as well.”

“She felt very torn between being the grandmother to William and Harry, and her Queen role. And I think she – everyone – was surprised and taken aback by the scale of what happened and the nature of how quickly it all happened.”

Deciding whether Diana’s sons should walk behind her coffin was also difficult.
“It wasn’t an easy decision,” says William.
It was a collective family decision.

“It was one of the hardest things I have ever done,” he adds, saying he put his head down and “hid behind my fringe”.
“It was a very long and lonely walk.”

Harry says: “I think it was a group decision. But before I knew it I found myself with a suit on, with a black tie and white shirt, and I was part of it. Generally, I don’t have an opinion on whether that was right or wrong. I’m glad I was part of it. Looking back on it now, I’m very glad I was part of it.”

his communications chief《Alastair Campbell》は
そんな緊張状態が強まっていることを警告

その後
クイーンは
バッキンガムパレスに半旗を掲げることを発表
そして
エディンバラ公と共に、
悲しみにくれる国民にお会いになった。

“You felt the tension lifting, you felt it straight away,” says Campbell of the walkabout.

Blair believed the palace needed to make an extraordinary gesture to appease a public increasingly hostile towards the royals.

There was the risk “that the country’s sense of loss turned to a sense of anger and grievance, and then turned against the monarchy”.

The Queen, he says, “was obviously very sad about Diana, she was concerned about the monarchy itself”.

He adds: “They needed to see her vulnerable as a person, and not simply vulnerable as a monarch.”

Her unprecedented live broadcast in which she paid tribute to Diana, speaking as a queen “and a grandmother”, was crucial.

She had needed to “bring the nation behind her”.

“These were modern times. We were approaching the 21st century, and for the people of the country, including particularly the younger generations coming up, the old deference towards the monarchy wasn’t enough, and in some cases wasn’t there. So this respect had to be renewed in a new way,” Blair says. “I think by the end of that week we had come to almost a new settlement, if you like, between monarchy and people.”

The Queen had shown that the royal family had the capacity to “adapt and adjust”.

泣くのかが理解できなかったそうですが
今では、それも理解ができると。

母の行なっていたことの成果だと。

to cry as loud as they did, and show such emotion as they did when they didn't really know our mother. I did feel a bit protective at times about her. I was like, 'You didn't even know her. Why and how are you so upset?' Now, looking back, over the last few years I've learned to understand what it was she gave the world and a lot of people."

Both parents had taught them about duty and responsibility, says William, “but I have to say when it becomes that personal as walking behind your mother’s funeral cortege, it goes to another level of duty”.
He felt his mother was “walking beside us to get us through”.

ダイアナ妃の顔にメークを施したのだそう。

そしてバトラー
《Paul Burrell》氏は
ヘアを。

そして
ベッドに
ロザリーを置かれたそう。

The driver said: “When I returned, she looked 100% better but it was one of the hottest days of the year and the room was like a furnace.

“[Paul Burrell] did her hair nicely then he put a rosary on the bed.

“Then, to my horror, I saw people climbing about on roofs. They were some distance away, but that was a blow.

“There were no blinds so I ordered some blankets to be brought and hung them at the windows.”

“None of us sat with her that ­afternoon. She was in the room at peace, with guards outside.”

Tebbutt previously spoke about how he thought Diana was alive as her eyes appeared to flicker open as the wind blew her lashes.

25ansコラムの方で書いたのですが、
ウィリアム王子が学校から戻ると
家にスーパーモデルたちがいて
びっくり＆真っ赤になっちゃったウィリアム王子

そんなエピソードを
先日告白されましたが、
（しかも、その場にいたモデルを間違えてもいたほどパニクりましたかね？w）

また違うエピソードが。

ダイアナ妃シェフの
《Darren McGrady》氏が
ウィリアム王子の13歳のバースデーに
ダイアナ妃は
おっぱいに似たケーキを注文されたとか！
（笑）

"I came into work that morning and went down to the refrigerator, opened the door and I was just confronted with the biggest pair of boobs I've ever seen in my life. 

The Princess had ordered a boobs cake for William's 13th birthday. I wish I'd taken a photograph of it! I didn't know anything about it, I just thought, 'Oh my gosh.' I asked the butler, 'What on earth is this?' and he said the Princess had ordered it for William's birthday," Darren added: "The Princess loved embarrassing people in the nicest way, in a fun way, whether it was telling a dirty, risqué joke – which usually got me. William just went bright-red."

Darren, who worked for Princess Diana for four years at Kensington Palace until her death, also opened up about the royal's "terrible" cooking. "She couldn't cook, the Princess was a terrible cook, she really was. I would actually leave food for her," he said. "I worked Monday to Friday and I'd leave food in the refrigerator for the weekend, like stuffed peppers, she loved those for a weekend lunch. I actually put cling film on with a little sticky note with a number two on it, and that told her to put it in the microwave and press two. That's just how bad she was at cooking! When the boys were home I'd stay there and cook on weekends too but if it was just the Princess, I'd have weekends off and leave food for her."
