The bride’s dress was designed by Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos, featuring a low back that drapes into a flowing full length train. The low back feature was at the specific request of Princess Eugenie who had surgery aged 12 to correct scoliosis. The fabric includes a number of symbols that are meaningful to the Princess: the symbols are a Thistle for Scotland acknowledging the couple's fondness for Balmoral; a Shamrock for Ireland as a reflection of the
Bride's maternal family; the York Rose; and ivy representing the couple's home.

Guests began arriving from 8.30am on Friday, as members of the public given balloted invites to the castle's Lower Ward looked on.

Model Naomi Campbell, actress Liv Tyler and Prince Harry's ex-girlfriend Chelsea Davy were among the first arrivals.
Kate Moss, Robbie Williams, Stephen Fry, James Blunt, Ellie Goulding and former footballer Jamie Redknapp have also arrived.Cara Delevingne

The couple's Order of Service revealed Jack will not wear a ring and Eugenie would not promise to obey her husband.

A Gaelic Blessing was sung by the choir and Italian singer-songwriter Andrea Bocelli performed Bach's Ave Maria.

Princess Beatrice read an extract from F Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel The Great Gatsby

About 1,200 members of the public were given balloted invites to the castle's Lower Ward, as have charity representatives, children from Eugenie's old schools, and royal household staff.

Criticism has been levied at the estimated £2 million security bill, which falls to the taxpayer, for Eugenie's wedding.

The policing costs will have been increased by the 1km carriage ride the couple will make through the town after the ceremony.
But Princess Eugenie, who is not a working royal, and Mr Brooksbank did not head up the Long Walk like Harry and Meghan, instead taking a shorter route back to the castle.

The Queen is hosting an afternoon reception afterwards in the castle, while an evening party is expected at the York family home, the Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park.

In a television interview ahead of the wedding, Princess Eugenie said "it was love at first sight" when she met her husband-to-be, while Mr Brooksbank paid tribute to his future wife, calling her a "bright shining light".

Princess Eugenie told Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford from ITV's This Morning show, which will be screening the ceremony live, that her "humble and generous" husband-to-be had the ability to "make everyone feel so special".

The Windsor wedding held at St George’s chapel peaked at 3.9 million when it aired on the channel in an extended This Morning special hosted by Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford from 9.25am until 12.30pm, according to overnight ratings.
However, despite hitting highs for this particular TV slot Eugenie and Jack may not reach the heights of the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, which was watched by a combined total of 11.5 million people in May - including those viewing up to seven days later.

OUTFIT

white, V-neck gown designed by London Fashion Week favourite Peter Pilotto.
The neckline was a wide-neck V shape, which folded around the shoulders into a low back and showed off the scars from Eugenie's childhood surgery

"During several fittings the dress was developed layer by layer, constructing it from the corset and the complex underskirt to the fitted bodice and full pleated skirt," the royal family said in a statement on their website. "The dress features a neckline that folds around the shoulders to a low back that drapes into a flowing full length train. The low back feature on the dress was at the specific request of Princess Eugenie who had surgery aged 12 to correct scoliosis."

'You can change the way beauty is':
Princess Eugenie's wedding dress will show off the scars from life-changing spinal surgery she had as a 12 year old
Princess Eugenie's wedding dress shows the scars of back surgery she underwent aged just 12.
The Queen's granddaughter was diagnosed with scoliosis and underwent corrective surgery that saw a pair of eight-inch titanium rods inserted alongside her spine.
She has invited the doctor who performed the life-changing operation to her big day and won't try to hide her scars as she walks up the aisle this morning.
The Princess, 28, said: 'I think you can change the way beauty is, and you can show people your scars and I think it's really special to stand up for that.'

The Queen loaned her granddaughter a beautiful tiara for the day - the Queen Mother's Greville Kokoshnik Tiara. The tiara was made by Boucheron for Mrs Greville in 1919 in the fashionable ‘kokoshnik’ style popularised in the Russian Imperial Court. The tiara is made of brilliant and rose cut diamonds pavé set in platinum, with six emeralds on either side. The tiara was bequeathed by Mrs Greville to Queen Elizabeth in 1942. Eugenie's emerald and diamond earrings were a gift from the groom

The Wedding bouquet, created by floral designer Rob van Helden's sister, Patrice van Helden Oakes, consists of Lily of the Valley, Stephanotis pips, hints of baby blue thistles, white spray roses and trailing ivy. Sprigs of myrtle from Osbourne House are also included in the bouquet. The tradition of carrying myrtle began after Queen Victoria was given a nosegay containing myrtle by Prince Albert’s grandmother during a visit to Gotha in Germany. In the same year, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert bought Osborne House as a family retreat, and a sprig from the posy was planted against the terrace walls, where it continues to thrive today. The myrtle was first carried by Queen Victoria's eldest daughter, Princess Victoria, when she married in 1858.

Wedding Cake
, a red velvet and chocolate cake designed by London-based baker Sophie Cabot, was inspired by the rich colours of autumn

Royal couple plump for Autumn-inspired wedding cake

Princess Eugenie's elaborate wedding cake is a towering creation, decorated in autumnal orange leaves and dark green ivy sugar work.
The five-tier centrepiece, made of layers of red velvet and chocolate, is covered in white icing and features the bride and groom's initials E and J in golden monograms around the base.
It was crafted by London-based cake designer Sophie Cabot.
The cake was mounted on a golden stand, and on show in the vast St George's Hall.
It contains up to 400 eggs, at least 53 packs of unsalted butter, 15 kilograms of organic self raising flour, and 20 kilos of sugar.
The cake consists of three tiers of red velvet and two of chocolate sponge cake covered with butter cream and white icing.
Other ingredients include vanilla essence, vanilla bean paste and red food colouring to give the cake its distinctive hue.

ドレス《Zac Posen》

taken at the Royal Lodge ahead of the evening reception offers a look at the bride in her second wedding dress. The blush silk gown was created by American designer Zac Posen, who was a guest at the wedding. Mr Posen was inspired by the beauty of Windsor and the surrounding countryside. The choice of colour reflects the blush of an English rose. Mr Posen also took inspiration from the White Rose of York. The pin-tucked plissé is cut on the bias and mixed with signature drapes. The White Rose of York is subtlety embroidered on both the shoulder and back which hold together the cape. The silk for the gown comes from Biddle Sawyer Silk. The timeless gown has a very 'Old Hollywood' feel to it.

Published 12 October 2018

Princess Eugenie’s Wedding dress has been designed by Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos, who founded the British based label Peter Pilotto, in London in 2007. The brand is known for its innovative textile design, paired with a modern feminine silhouette.

Princess Eugenie met the designers when she was co-hosting an event in support of women artists. Her Royal Highness has been wearing designs by the brand for several years.

Princess Eugenie, Mr Pilotto and Mr De Vos have worked closely together on the design of the dress. The designers undertook archive research into previous dresses worn by Members of the Royal Family and identified a silhouette.

The Design

During several fittings the dress was developed layer by layer, constructing it from the corset and the complex underskirt to the fitted bodice and full pleated skirt. The dress features a neckline that folds around the shoulders to a low back that drapes into a flowing full length train. The low back feature on the dress was at the specific request of Princess Eugenie who had surgery aged 12 to correct scoliosis.

The Fabric

The fabric was designed by Mr Pilotto and Mr De Vos at their studio in East London and includes a number of symbols that are meaningful to Princess Eugenie as motifs.

The symbols are a Thistle for Scotland acknowledging the couple's fondness for Balmoral, a Shamrock for Ireland as a nod to the Bride's Ferguson family, the York Rose and ivy representing the couple's home.

Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos have reinterpreted these symbols in a garland of rope like motifs, woven into a jacquard of silk, cotton and viscose blend.

Once the artwork was completed, it was translated into a jacquard weave in the Como region of Italy. The result is a very modern looking fabric using a highly intricate weaving technique.

Jewellery

Princess Eugenie is wearing the Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara, lent to her by Her Majesty The Queen.

Princess Eugenie is wearing diamond and emerald drop ear-rings which are a Wedding gift from the Groom.

Wedding Shoes

The Wedding shoes are satin peep-toe heels by Charlotte Olympia.

The Bride’s Bouquet

Bridal Hair and Make-Up

Princess Eugenie's hair was styled by Sonny-Jo MacFarlane, Hari's, with make-up by Hannah Martin, Bobbi Brown.

Maid of Honour

Princess Beatrice is wearing an outfit by Ralph and Russo and a hat by Sarah Cant.
Bridesmaids’ Dresses and Page Boys' Uniforms

These were designed by Amaia Arrieta of Amaia Kids. The design incorporates the Mark Bradford artwork included in the Order of Service.

Bridesmaids’ Flowers

The Bridesmaids' flowers are by Rob Van Helden and reflect the design of the Bridal bouquet. The Bridesmaids each have posies of Lily of the Valley and spray roses.

Special Attendant

Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor is wearing a dress by Claudie Pierlot and hat by Emily London.

Mother of the Bride's Dress

Sarah, Duchess of York is wearing a dress designed by local Windsor company Emma Louise Design, with a vintage Manolo Blahnik bag. The bag was carried by Susan Barrantes at the Wedding of The Duke and Duchess of York in 1986.

Who are the design duo behind Peter Pilotto?

Austrian/Italian designer Peter Pilotto studied at Antwerp's Royal Academy of Fine Art where he met de Vos in 2000.
In 2004, Pilotto graduated and launched his eponymous label, which was immediated bought by trend-setting Parisian store Maria Luisa as well as some Japanese retailers.
The early boost from Maria Luisa boosted the label's profile on the European fashion scene.
After graduation in 2005, De Vos moved to London and Pilotto followed two years later, and the pair decided to collaborate.
The pair quickly became known for their statement prints, using the technique of digital printing that was previously used on low price t-shirts and tracksuits, on luxury fabrics.
In 2009, they won a British Fashion Award for Emerging Talent, followed by a British Fashion Council/Vogue Fashion Fund award of £200,000

Something borrowed! Princess Eugenie wears the Queen's dazzling Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara for her big day – with matching earrings gifted to her by groom Jack Brooksbank

Princess Eugenie's 'something borrowed' was from the Queen today - who lent her a dazzling emerald tiara for her big day at Windsor Castle this morning.
The royal bride opted for the Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara, lent to her by her grandmother, while her matching diamond and emerald earrings were a wedding gift from the groom, Jack Brooksbank.
The glittering bandeau tiara was made by Boucheron in 1919 in the fashionable kokoshnik style popularised in the Russian Imperial Court.
It is made of brilliant and rose-cut pavé diamonds set in platinum, with six emeralds on either side, and was bequeathed by socialite Margaret Greville to the Queen Mother in 1942.
The centre emerald is 93.70 carats, and also has diamonds set in platinum, the palace revealed this morning, with previous wearers including the Queen and her late mother.
Eddie LeVian, CEO of jewellers Le Vian, told MailOnline: ‘The tiara Eugenie wore looks like it has at least 250 carats of diamonds on it with the centre emerald of almost 100 carats.
'All of the five additional side emeralds are of exceptional quality. Given the royal and historic provenance, I would value this tiara at £35 million. If this were a commercial piece for sale I would say £8million to £10million.’

Herkimer diamonds are actually clear quartz crystals that naturally appear faceted, hence their name. As well as being significantly cheaper than real diamonds, they have a more pared-back, less brilliant sparkle.
