今日ビッグなニュースが飛び込んできた。

ピッパさん婚約！！！！
もちろんお相手は、
《James Matthews》

投資会社「Eden Rock Capital Management Group」
の創立者の1人で

40才

ご両親も超お金持ち
弟は、 
 《Spencer Matthews》　
英ドラマ ”Made In Chelsea”のスターで
お騒がせ君

一見、その弟と合いそうだけど、
結婚相手となると、
ちゃんと真逆のタイプを選ぶところは
さすが、ミドルトン家！！

幸せになるって
どういうことかを、よくご存知。
もしくは、ママキャロルさんの教え（決定？）かも。

私も教えて欲しい、、（笑）

 そんなことは置いといて、

どうやら、この週末
英国湖水地方で過ごしていたらしいお二人

日本人にも大人気の田舎ですね。

そこの高台で美しい景色を眺めている時に
ジェームズさんが膝まづき
指輪を取り出し、
「Will you marry me?」
といったかどうかは正式には分からないが。
とにかくプロポーズ

ピッパさん
「Yes」
これは本当

らしいです❤️

いや〜〜よかったねえ。
やはり、この人でしたね。
絶対お似合いだもん。

ジェームズさん
絶対大事にしてくれるタイプよ〜〜
一途にピッパちゃんだけ！
って感じだったもんねえ。

記念日に

これまでにも、
St Bart's （サン・バルテルミー島）の
ジェームズさんの両親が所有の別荘に
ミドルトン家で行ったり、
 何度も一緒にバケーションを過ごした仲

そして今年からスタートした同棲も
公認と言われていたしね〜
  
キャロルさん＆マイケルさんも大喜びだそうです。
そりゃそうだ。

思い返すと、

2012年に最初のデート。
その時の付き合いは短く、数ヶ月とか。 
すぐ破局

とはいえ、イギリスにありがちな
その後も友人。

それ以来、
色々な人と噂になったけれど、
イケメンのバンカー
 《Nico Jackson》氏と
結果約3年も真剣交際。

結婚の噂も幾度となく出ましたが、
遠距離も手伝って、昨年ついにお別れ。
 
そのあと、なんやかんやと、
ミドルトン家のバカンス旅行に合流してたり、 
ピッパさんと２ショットデートが目撃されたりしていたジェームズさん。

ずっとその間も
ジェームズさんは待ってた（願ってた）のよね〜〜
別れるの。

ニコさんとのお別れ後
 復活交際へと発展。

今年に入ってからは、
ジェームズさんが所有する、
チェルシー の超高級フラットでお試し同棲も開始。

その結果、やはりこの人！という結論に至ったということですね。

まさに、今月初め
 ウィンブルドンで、
 初めて、公の場での２ショットを見せた2人。
  
やはり、これがその前触れだったのね〜。

2人に、騒がれてもいいという覚悟の表れというか、
ピッパさんに覚悟ができた？というのか、
それを見て、プロポーズの覚悟がジェームズさんに出来たのかも？？
 勝手な妄想（笑）

とにかく、羨ましすぎる、ハッピーなニュースです❤️

元をたどれば、
キャサリン妃のロイヤルウェディングで
後ろ姿（美尻）に世界中が大注目

世界一モテる独身女性だったんじゃあ？？
それ以来、ずっとモテ期。

そんなピッパさんも気づけば32才。

復活愛だし、
年齢的にもとっても良い気がする。

ピッパさんのハートをつかんだラッキーな男は！
という見方もあれば、
ピッパさんはラッキー！
という見方も。

私は後者です（笑）
この人いいわ〜、最高の旦那さまだと思う。

ま、魅力あるピッパさんだからこそ
惚れられたわけですけどね。

おそらく結婚式は来年？とみられていますが、
それに向け、また推測が止まない。。。

なんと、
ちょうど、この記事が出て明るみになる前日(18日)、
ピッパさん、お仕事で登場していた！！

アンバサダーの

のパーティに出席

しかもこの時
見事に指輪を隠していた！！！
意識的に左手薬指を・・・

ということで、気になる〜〜！！！
婚約指輪は一体！？

James Matthews is the co-founder of Eden Rock Capital Management Group, an investment advisory firm with expertise in credit and structured finance.
The financier serves as the company's chief executive officer 


He's athletic

 James and Pippa share a love for sports. The pair have competed together in various challenges including the London to Brighton charity bike ride and the 47-mile Otillo swim-run in Sweden that benefitted the Michael Matthews Foundation


His family owns a popular A-list luxury retreat

James' father David Spencer, a former mechanic and his stylish mother Jane scooped up the luxury Eden Rock hotel in St. Barths in 1995 and it is currently one of the Top 100 hotels in the world.
The glamorous Caribbean resort is vacationed by a number of rich and famous faces, including the Middletons



He went to Prince William and Prince Harry's school

James' connection to the British royal family goes further than his relationship with Kate's little sister.
The businessman attended the all-boys boarding school Eton College like the Prince William and his brother Prince Harry.

James' brother tragically died at age 22 while making his way down from Mount Everest. Michael had become the youngest Briton to reach the summit of Mount Everest before his death.
The Matthews' family ensured that Michael's legacy will live on through the Michael Matthews Foundation, a charity that provides an education to around 1200 children after constructing school buildings in remote places.
James' girlfriend Pippa has lent her support to the foundation by carrying out a number of sporting challenges.



 

'Their marriage will not just cement Matthews into the wider family circle that William and Kate have established, it will also link them to the celebrity world inhabited by James’s brother Spencer, the coke-snorting louche lothario of reality TV show Made In Chelsea.

More intriguingly the union will connect two families with uncannily similar backgrounds. Like Pippa, James is the grandchild of a coalminer from the North of England.

Like Pippa, he boasts a parent of humble origin who has achieved considerable wealth: Carole Middleton is a former air hostess who grew up in a council flat, while James’s father David, who made millions in the motor trade began his working life as a trainee mechanic in Rotherham.

Many will seize on both families rags-to-riches journey from working class ancestry to moneyed middle-class success as a shining example of the social fluidity of modern Britain.'

"Miss Pippa Middleton and Mr James Matthews are delighted to announce they became engaged on Sunday 17 July and plan to marry next year."  

"They make a wonderful couple and we wish them every happiness together," proud dad Michael Middleton said in a statement Tuesday.

The decadent vintage ring features a halo of diamonds around a large central diamond

Diamond expert David Christopher Allen, Creative Director of 77 Diamonds agrees on the cut, commenting: "It is Art Deco in style with an octagonal halo of round diamonds surrounding what looks to be a 4 carat Asscher cut diamond. Asscher cut diamonds are step cut inside, which means there are fewer facets than standard shapes such as round or princess square cuts. This means that their clarity has to be of the highest quality and close to flawless to show off the beautiful structure of the diamond."

Sarah Sheard, manager and diamond expert at Hatton Jewels which values jewellery, suggests: "The main stone appears to be around 3.5 carats with a total of 5 carats on the whole ring. The ring itself is platinum. The diamonds have an excellent clarity and white colour, as you'd expect given who it has been made for."

As for price, Allen adds: "A diamond and ring of top quality could fetch upwards of £200,00." Meanwhile Sheard adds: "I would value the ring at between £150,000 and £180,000."

Although it has been suggested this is a vintage design, Joanna Hardy, a fine jewellery expert, explains that the design is a modern interpretation of a classic Art Deco style. "With an Art Deco ring you would have baguette diamonds around the outside, so to have changed for modern round cut diamonds. that definitely is a contemporary twist," she explains. "It seems that there is a bit of space around the setting of the Asscher cut diamond, which is a twist as with an Art Deco ring you would have diamonds or metal next to the main stone. The fact that you can see the gap gives a sense of lightness, which you wouldn't see in a traditional Deco piece, and it makes it look elegant."

Commenting on the dazzler, David Allen, Creative Director of 77 Diamonds, said: 'Pippa is not one to be outdone by her sister, we know that after 'that' dress she wore at the Royal Wedding in 2011. 

'Her centre diamond appears to be a 4 carat asscher cut diamond. 

'Given the nature of these step cut stones, the quality is paramount so the stone requires the highest of clarity gradings. A flawless asscher diamond set in an octagonal halo ring such as this would fetch upwards of £200,000.'

Sonia Menezes, Head of Brand Development at Clogau Gold, also believes the ring was pricey. 

'It has a vintage glamour with a modern edge, a style favoured by Gwyneth Paltrow and Jessica Alba, who have engagement rings of a similar style. The most famous Asscher cut diamond was worn by Elizabeth Taylor, the 33 carat Krupp diamond, now known as the Elizabeth Taylor diamond. 

'It was bought by Richard Burton for $300,000 in 1968. I imagine Pippa's engagement ring to be valued in excess of that.'

Neil Geddes, a high-end jewellery concierge, said: 'It has a loose look of an art deco inspired piece, but it's likely contemporary made. It was likely to have been made bespoke especially for her from Bond Street.

'It sits fairly high on her finger allowing as much light to enter the diamond as possible and reflect back giving stunning brilliance and fire.'  

Rod Harris, a diamond specialist who owns WHY Jewellers in Dorset, added that the ring is 'very sophisticated and practical' with a design echoing themes of the deco era. 

An expert at the London Victorian Ring Company explains that Pippa's engagement ring has a central Asscher cut diamond which makes it 'really stand out.' 

Developed in Amsterdam in 1902, the Asscher shape has rows of facets similar to a staircase and each step is sparkling with the beauty of the diamond. The precise lines and distinctive cut corners made this a popular cut for 1920s engagement rings. 

This is a classic style which is as timeless as it is elegant, and is a simply stunning ring which Pippa will enjoy wearing every day

Her Asscher cut diamond is surrounded by round brilliant cut diamonds and set in the shape of a octagon.

Harry Brown, CEO at Chisholm Hunter, said: 'James has made a very sophisticated choice in terms of the ring. It appears to be platinum and diamonds, possibly a ascher or cushion cut with a stunning round brilliant halo. 

'This is a classic style which is as timeless as it is elegant, and is a simply stunning ring which Pippa will enjoy wearing every day. Over the years we have seen variations on this style with pink and yellow diamonds but this is a real classic. It could be that James has designed the ring himself, making it even more personal – bespoke jewellery design is something that our clients are asking for more and more, as they want to give their fiancée something completely unique and special.

Pippa's rock is markedly different in style from her big sister Kate's. After meeting in 2001 at St Andrews - and enduring a rocky and very well-documented relationship - Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton in 2010 in Kenya.

The ring Prince William gave to Kate Middleton in late 2010 is among the most famous in the world. Lady Diana Spencer chose it for her engagement to Prince Charles in 1981 from a selection presented to her by the then Crown jewellers, Garrard of Mayfair.

It was an oval 12-carat Ceylon sapphire surrounded by a cluster of 14 solitaire diamonds set in white gold. It cost £28,500 in 1981, but its legacy as the engagement ring worn by both Princess Diana and the Duchess of Cambridge makes it priceless

BATTLE OF THE ENGAGEMENT RINGS

While Pippa’s engagement ring is slightly smaller than her sister Kate’s – and carries a lot less history – it cost much more.

Believed to be made to order, it is very much in the Art Deco style of the 1920s and 1930s.

Experts say it is almost certainly made in platinum and has a three-carat Asscher-cut – or square-cut – diamond.

This is surrounded by smaller round brilliant diamonds in a rub-over or bezel setting, in which the stones are held in place with a rim of metal, a more secure arrangement than the traditional setting and ideal for a sporty young woman like Pippa.

Kate’s ring was inherited by William following the death of his mother in 1997.

It comprises a 12-carat Ceylon sapphire surrounded by 14 solitaire diamonds set in 18-carat white gold

When Prince Charles bought it for his engagement to the then Lady Diana Spencer in 1981, it cost £28,000. It would be worth £108,000 today. 

However, the history attached to the piece and the scarceness of the sapphire – not to mention the fact that it is unlikely to ever come on the open market – makes it almost priceless.

David Allen, creative director of 77 Diamonds, said: ‘If you were going to buy a ring tomorrow and wanted a ring like Kate’s or Pippa’s, Pippa’s would be pricier.

‘It’s only the history and story behind Kate’s ring that makes it more valuable.’

The Asscher cut is named after its creator Joseph Asscher. The Dutchman was one of the greatest diamond cutters of the early 20th century. His style has undergone a revival in recent years. The most famous Asscher-cut diamond was worn by Hollywood screen legend Elizabeth Taylor – the 33.19-carat Krupp diamond bought for her by her then husband Richard Burton in 1968. He paid £150,000

Fashion Studiesでは、服を作る側、売る側の視点からの話が多く、着る側の視点での会を行いたいと思っていました。

そんなとき、今回の登壇者の杉田千種さんから自分のスタイルを見つけるため「1年間、服を買わないチャレンジ」をされたという話を聞きました。

そのチャレンジを杉田さんにすすめたのがもう一人の登壇者のスタイリスト兼英国王室キャサリン妃研究家のにしぐち瑞穂さんです。

にしぐちさんの思考転換のきっかけになったのはロンドン移住です。それ以降、激変した価値観と、キャサリン妃スタイルとがつながりました。

キャサリン妃は着回しがうまく、お直しもリメイクも当たり前にこなすし、さらにZARAのようなファストファッションからアレキサンダーマックイーンのようなハイブランドまで、TPOに応じて着こなしています。

今回のトークでは、杉田さんには「1年間、服を買わないチャレンジ」で自分がどのように変化をしていき、自分のスタイルを見つけていったのかを、にしぐち さんには、キャサリン妃のファッション、着こなしからキャサリン妃がどのようにスタイルを確立していったのかをお話していただきます。

「何を着たらいいのかわからない」と悩んでいる方に必見のトークです。 このトークが自分のスタイルの見つけ方のヒントになっていただければと思っております。
