an open-top bus tour of Mumbai with children from local charity Apnalya. The organisation works with the most marginalized people living in slums.

Door Step School was established in Mumbai n 1988 with the aim of providing literacy to marginalised sections of society. It was built to focus on three problems: non-enrolment, wastage and stagnation. The Right to Education Act mandates free and compulsory education to all children in the age group of 6-14 years, however, there are still a large number of children who do not go to school. Door Step School helps these children get enrolled in government schools in an effort to mainstream them into the formal education system.

Magic Bus steers children towards a better life with awareness, life skills and opportunities. Their mentorship programme sees local youth volunteers trained to be mentors and role models to other children. They conduct ABC sessions and act as catalysts for community change. The children and youth grow up becoming confident, respected and responsible.

Those familiar with Childline in the UK will be familiar with the work carried out by India's Childline. Launched in 1996, Childline is the country's first toll-free tele-helpline for street children in distress. As of March 2015, a total of 36 million calls have been serviced by Childline operating in 366 cities and districts.

パレスコメント
"A visit here will allow Their Royal Highnesses to get a real sense of the complexity of this city. Alongside one of the most upmarket residential areas in Mumbai, they will see people who are living in tough circumstances in a small slum and are working hard to gain skills and make their way in the world."

キャサリン妃
子供たちについて会話☆

As she attended a Bollywood gala held in her and Prince William's honour in Mumbai on Sunday, Kate admitted her concerns to actress and fellow mum-of-two Madhuri Dixit.

"She said she loves being here and the people are very welcoming, but she was worried she may miss her children," Madhuri told reporters at the evening do.

The royals chose the vegetarian dishes, which they had also done at an earlier engagement, and feasted on mushroom and pea curry, vegetable kebabs, spinach and corn curry, paneer, cauliflower rice, red lentil dahl and traditional Indian sweets.

ウィリアム王子はスピーチも☆

The Prince also took to the stage to give a speech, in which he revealed that his wife Kate had always wanted to visit India. He said: "When Catherine and I were married, India was the first place on Catherine's list that she told me that she wanted to visit. Two children and five years later, we have finally made it – and we are both honoured to be here."

He added: "On a personal level, Catherine and I are full of admiration for this diverse and democratic society. No one can come here without being awed and amazed; no one can come without a sense of excitement about all that India has achieved in the past and the extraordinary promise it holds for the future."

THE DUCHESS'S DIPLOMATIC STYLE

Picking local designers and showcasing Indian prints and themes on her trip is not the first time the Duchess of Cambridge has used her outfits to pay homage to a host nation.

For the state banquet held at Buckingham Palace in October 2015, Kate donned a high-necked bespoke Jenny Packham dress in a fitting shade of red, the colour of China's flag, to welcome the Chinese president Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan.

In April 2014, during her trip to Australia and New Zealand Kate nodded to both countries with her sartorial choices.

On day three she wore a black and white dress in reference to New Zealand's traditional colours, and the print on her knee-length frock had a hint of the Maori symbols seen in the tattoos at the official welcome on day one.

While at an unveiling of a portrait of the Queen the Duchess wore a bespoke Jenny Packham number which had New Zealand's national plant, the silver fern embroidered on to the shoulder of her dress.

Kate opted for a £950 canary yellow Roksanda Ilincic dress as she stepped off the plane in Sydney for the second leg of her tour of Australasia, paying sartorial tribute to her Antipodean hosts in the sunny yellow dress which represented the country's national colours.

On another trip to Canada, in July 1 2011, Kate teamed her white 'Nanette' Reiss dress with a bright red maple leaf fascinator, red heels and The Queen's donated maple leaf pin.

Later in the evening, when Kate and Prince William were the guests of honour at the event which was part of the national celebrations marking Canada's 144th birthday Kate had changed her clothes from her earlier red and white outfit - Canada's national colours - into a purple dress.

However, she was still wearing the maple leaf brooch, which the Queen has loaned her for the tour - a glittering diamond piece in the form of the national emblem of Canada.

一泊 £9500 の"Grand Presidential Suite"

The grand presidential collection of 15 rooms is described by the hotel as an ‘expanse fit for kings and heads of state’. The 5,000 sq ft apartment is a treasure trove of priceless art, rugs, antique furniture and historic objets d’art.
It costs £9,500 a night, though it is unlikely the Royal couple would have been handed a bill. Barack and Michelle Obama stayed there in 2010.

A Brief History of British Royal Visit to India

The Queen has visited 3x; Diana 1x; Charles 8x

Here’s a look at previous visits by members of the British royal family to a nation that, until 1947, was the jewel in the crown of the British empire.

1. Queen Elizabeth II

The first monarch to be crowned after India’s independence from British colonial rule, the Queen has visited India on three occasions. The first of those visits came in 1961, when she and her husband Prince Phillip toured the country’s biggest cities like Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata (then called Bombay, Madras and Calcutta respectively). They also visited India’s most recognizable monument, the Taj Mahal, and were the guests of honor for India’s Republic Day Parade that year.

A second visit in 1983 for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting was followed by a remarkably contentious trip in 1997. Meant to mark 50 years of India’s independence, the tour quickly soured over a series of gaffes, including controversial remarks over the disputed region of Kashmir by then British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook — which reportedly prompted Indian Prime Minister I.K. Gujral to call Britain a “third-rate” power. There was also a wreath-laying ceremony at the site of an infamous massacre by British colonial soldiers.

The Queen has not visited India since.

2. Princess Diana

A darling of the public eye, Prince William’s mother’s 1992 visit to the South Asian nation with her husband Prince Charles was treated with much fanfare. Visits to multiple schools showcased her well-documented ability to bond with young children, and resulted in some touching photographs.

The most memorable image from the trip, however, was recorded — yet again — at the Taj Mahal. Diana visited the famous structure alone while Charles addressed a gathering in Bangalore, adding fuel to already-swirling rumors that their marriage was in trouble. The rumors would turn out to be true, as the royal couple announced their separation later that year. The photograph of Diana, seated in front of the Taj, has become one of the most iconic images captured at the monument.

3. Prince Charles

The Prince of Wales is a known Indophile, having visited the country eight times beginning in 1975. He famously proclaimed, at the Taj Mahal during his second trip to India in 1980, when he was a bachelor, that he would one day return there with his wife. That prophecy was not fulfilled with Diana but with his second wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, on his last visit three years ago.

He has also made two official visits on behalf of the Queen — in 1991 for the funeral of assassinated Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, and in 2010 to inaugurate that year’s edition of the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.

William and Kate will follow in the footsteps of William’s parents and grandparents, with a visit to the Taj Mahal on April 16. They will also visit the spot where Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated in New Delhi, as well as the Kaziranga National Park wildlife sanctuary.
