Premier Skills football training

The Duke of Cambridge is President of The Football Association in the UK

Soccer is about to become part of the national curriculum in China, and the British Council runs a scheme called Premier Skills which aims to foster a passion for the game among students.

The Premier League is hugely popular in China and represents a major UK commercial export. The British Council Premier Skills scheme shows how football, which is being added to the Chinese National Curriculum this year, can be used to support young people's development and to encourage social change, build skills and good health

The Prince asked the children whether they had heard of David Beckham
"He asked them if they knew who David Beckham was, and said that if they got involved in football then one day they might meet him," said Paul. "The Duke was interested in how football helps build confidence, self esteem and promotes good health, and how the game is going to become a big focal point in schools here."

"The Duke told the children that if they keep on working hard hopefully one day they might play in the Premier League,"
