と称されるお二人
スコットランドといえば、
英国の一部ではありながらも
独自の議会と自治政府、文化や歴史をもつ、いわゆる国
2014年には独立の是非を問う住民投票が行われたり、
またEU離脱を機に、その動きが再燃したりと、
未来の国王ご夫妻にとっては、
イングランドでのご公務以上に、慎重かつ友好的で有益な内容のご公務がマスト
地域の伝統文化に焦点をあて、
地域社会を繋ぎ、新たな世代を鼓舞し続ける姿を伝える目的
It was one of a series of
events designed to spotlight Scottish heritage traditions and how they
are 'continuing to connect communities and inspire new generations'.
まず、即興で立ち寄られたのが、
ファルカークにある『ケルピーズ』
2013年に鋼鉄で建造され、
翌年に除幕された、高さ約30メートルの
印象的な馬頭像の前で公式写真
ケルト神話の馬にちなんで命名された
巨大な馬の頭部の鉄鋼彫刻をご覧に
このへの立ち寄りによって
最初のご公務場所へ遅れて到着となったそうですが
そういうのも英国らしい。
ちなみに、この日は
３つのご公務
①スターリングのナショナル・カーリング・アカデミーを訪問
②タータン織り工房「ラディカル・ウェイバーズ」を訪れた後
③スターリングの東4マイルにある旧炭鉱村ファリンにある
「ゴサンバーグ・パブ」へ

一つ目のご公務
ウィリアム王子とキャサリン妃はその後、
スターリングにある、国立カーリングアカデミーを訪問され
冬季五輪を前に、英国オリンピック・パラリンピックカーリングチームを視察
スポーツ好きのお二人だけに、やはり競技に挑戦も！
まずはウィリアム皇太子が挑戦され、その後にキャサリン妃
初回には、好奇心の裏で、ビックリもしつつ
試みは成功とはいかなかったけれど、
夫のアドバイスにより、再チャレンジの末
集中して、見事なショット！
どうやらウィリアム皇太子のボールが飛ばされた？
思わず、腕を振り上げ、大喜びのキャサリン妃でした。
さすが、負けん気が強いキャサリン妃
スポーツにおいて、出来ない、なんてあり得ませんw
すぐにコツを掴んで成功させるところが、
さすが、運動神経の良いプリンセスです
２つ目の訪問先となったのが、タータン織り工房❤️
昨年から、英国ファブリックの工房も頻繁に訪れていらっしゃる
キャサリン妃ですが、
今度は、スコットランドといえば！
のタータンチェック。
個人的に、タータン好きとしては羨ましい限り！❤️
ホントは、タータンチェックかツイードを織って暮らしたいほど❤️
ここでも、実際に織り機の体験をされたキャサリン妃
手つきは、なんだか慣れたご様子にも。
そして、注目すべきは
そんな、妻の様子を後ろでご覧になっていた
ウィリアム皇太子の手に、
キャサリン妃のコートがかかっていたこと！！
普通、側近だよね？と思うも
皇太子が持ってさしあげるなんて❤️
まさか、メディアに撮らせるための戦略じゃないよね？
終了後には、外で待つ多くの人々と交流
もはや写メのセルフィーも当たり前になってしまった、、、
ご夫妻が、仲良く腰に手を回しながら写真に応じるお姿もあり❤️

最後の訪問先はパブ
旧炭鉱村ファリンにあるパブで
このゴサンバーグ・パブは
利益を地域社会に還元するという、スウェーデンの伝統にちなんで名付けられた
「ゴス・パブ」と称されるパブの一つで、
かつては50軒あったが、現在はわずか4軒にまで減少
しかしながら、

ウィリアム皇太子は、「パブが大好きです」とかたられ、
サポートをしたい意向を示されるとともに、
パブが村にもたらす社会的利益について、
「非常に重要です。電話やテレビだけではない、人と人との交流が大切ですから」
と語られた。
ちょうどこの時、
ハリー王子が英国に帰国中で
『デイリー・メール』紙の発行元を訴えた裁判に出廷するため
ロンドンに滞在中でしたが、
皇太子ご夫妻は、遠く🏴スコットランドでのご公務
それを意識されたのか、それとも、完全スルーの上での偶然か
真相はご当人のみぞ知る、ですが、
少なくともご夫妻は、スコットランドでの公務へアツい想いが感じられた次第
それはファッションからも！🏴

キャサリン妃と相談しながら、
🏴スコットランド国旗をイメージする色合いの
カスタムのタータン柄をデザインしたものだというから
このこだわりよう‼️

Weaving connections
An inspiring example of how traditional Scottish tartan-weaving is being used by Radical Weavers to bring people together, offering support and hope to those affected by trauma and loss.
Great to
visit The Goth, an historic community-run pub in Fallin, where profits
are reinvested into local initiatives, from supporting families in need
and food banks to charities and hospices across the area.
Prince William and Kate were delayed to their first outing after they
had an impromptu stop at The Kelpies in Falkirk. The duel 30m-tall
horsehead sculptures are said to embody the fusion of Scotland's rich
mythological heritage alongside the power of Scottish industry and
engineering.

The Prince and Princess of Wales stopped by The Kelpies as they passed through Falkirk on their way to Stirling.

Following an impromptu stop at The Kelpies in Falkirk, the
royal couple started their day of engagements at the National Curling
Academy in Stirling.

The Prince plays
The Prince had his best concentration face on for his try, with everyone applauding his efforts.
Laughing,
William said: "It's not going very fast," but silver medalist Bruce
Mouat reassured him that you usually have sweepers to help a stone reach
the house - the target at the end of the ice strip.
Kate has a go
The Prince was heard giving his wife tips on her first attempt, which went slightly awry,
William
told her: "Just lean on both Catherine," in reference to the red stone
and the delivery stick, used for beginners to help steady themselves.
Keen
to correct her mistake, she asked if she could have another go, and was
delighted to be told by Nigel Holl, executive performance director from
British curling, that they would now be going head to head.
Kate reacts
Kate's second try went more smoothly, much to her delight!
The Princess was the ultimate winner in the end!
When it
stopped right in the middle, she high-fived Jennifer Dodds, who was part
of the gold medal winning team at the last Winter Olympics, and
celebrated with a fist pump in the air.

curling game on the ice.
She tentatively took to the 45-metre long sheet, hoisting her long skirt
up and tucking her hair behind her ear, the princess got into position
Kate, 44, giggled as she and William, 43, took to the ice at the
National Curling Academy in Stirling; and while both are naturally
competitive when it comes to sport, the mother-of-three had the Prince's
full support as she had a go

Visit to Radical Weavers
その後、ご夫妻は、

伝統工芸の保存に尽力する、手織り工房兼慈善団体
「ラディカル・ウィーバーズ」を訪問
この工房では、様々なワークショップを行っていて
スコットランドのタータン織り専門クラスも提供
At their second engagement, the
Waleses helped out at Radical Weavers, a charity in city centre charity
which aims to tackle social isolation and support people affected by
trauma and loss.
They were shown around by Mairi Breslin, founding
director of Radical Weavers, to learn about the rich and unique
heritage of Scottish tartan weaving.
Kate said: "It's such a
fantastic way to bring that sense of self and think about parts of their
lives and parts of themselves that they hadn't explored before in a
creative way and abstract way but in a less judgemental way."
William and Kate, also the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay, are visiting
Stirling and Falkirk for a two-day visit to promote Scottish heritage
traditions
then traveled to the heart of Stirling to visit Radical Weavers, a
handweaving studio and charity dedicated to preserving traditional
crafts. The studio hosts various workshops, including specialized
classes in Scottish tartan-weaving

Kate sat down for a lesson in weaving tartan as she handed over her
coat to Prince William

For their third and final engagement of their trip, the Prince and
Princess of Wales visited The Gothenburg pub in Fallin, a former mining

number has dwindled to just 4.
William said he "absolutely loves pubs" and wants to "help" them.
Sitting
down with a group of local men, the future King heard how the pub
maintains strong links to the local community, with part of the ethos
being a centre from which other activities, not involving drinking, can
be enjoyed.
Hearing about the social benefits the pub brings to
the village, William added: "It's crucial. It's the human-to-human
contact, isn't it, rather than just being on the phone or watching TV."

The Goth is one of the few remaining Scottish pubs run under the Gothenburg system, which reinvests profits back into the local community.
There, the Princess, 44, spoke to a
group of people, including Adele Hodgson, 70, who took up crochet as a
hobby a year ago and now sells her creations to raise money for the
local Strathcarron Hospice. During their chat, Kate was left delighted
after being presented with a crochet bunny for her daughter Princess
Charlotte, ten.
Giving a sweet insight into family life at their "forever home", Forest Lodge in Windsor, she said: "She will absolutely love that. She’s got lots of teddies on her bed. Well done, that must have taken a long time.Thank you so much."
