three out of four people watching TV last night - tuned in on the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 at 8pm, 
putting it just outside the top 10 most watched broadcasts of all time in Britain.

 The first was made at the beginning of the land war in Iraq, while the second was given on the eve of the funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales.

 The 2002 address came on the eve of her mother's funeral, while the 2012 speech marked her Diamond Jubilee.

行われた場所でもありました。

国民の心に響いた
女王のお言葉は
なんと約2400万人が視聴したのだそう！

 4人に３人が見ていたことになるのだとか。。。

 その視聴者数は、
歴代第11位だというから凄い。。

ロックダウン中で自宅に皆がいるということもあるでしょうが
ともかく、それだけ、現在国民が不安定な状態にあるとも言えるのでしょう。

 それに加えて
いかに女王という存在が偉大であり、
その思慮深きお言葉が力をもつか
を象徴していると言える。

 それにしても本当に
素晴らしいものだった。

 国民の期待通り、
いや、それ以上だと感じた。

 あるコメンテーターは、
「女王の言葉が国を元気にした」
とさえ言っていた。

 まず、医療現場で働く人々への感謝
そして、同様に感謝の意を伝えている国民を誇りにも。

そして、
あくまでも前向きなことがや表現を用い
英国人の”プライド”に訴えかけるように勇気付けられているところに感動。

さすが知性を重要とする、英国のまさに師

 英国人としてのプライドを持て！
ってなところでしょうが、
英国人、”プライド”って言葉に弱いもんねえw
頑張っちゃいます、冷静に。

 旦那さまもだけど、
言葉だけでも、人を動かすのが本当にお上手だ。。。

 そして、このような状況下でもやはり
”グッド・ユーモア”が入っているのも、英国らしい！

 困難な状況を幾度となく乗り越えてきた
その精神が再び、といった感じ。

 印象的だったのは、
強く言い切るお言葉。

 ”必ず乗り越えられます”
”成功します”

 これが大事だ。

 こういう時に、私たちも含めて、皆が求めているのは
きっと、こういう強い言葉だ。
それを実感した。

 こう言われたら、
信じたい！信じよう！って思える。

 ましてや、国の母に言われたら。

また、
最後の締めもお見事だった。

 ”We'll meet again”

 これは、実は
第二次世界大戦の時に大人気の
歌手《ヴェラ・リン》の曲から由来したものだと見られる。

 英国軍の恋人とすら称され
これを合唱して、兵士たちは前線に向かっていたともいうから、
希望の歌という一方で
切なくも、、だが。

 女王が、始めたお言葉を述べられたのが
1940年の14歳の時

 疎開する子供達へ向けて、という想い出をももつ
女王だからこそ、言葉の重みも格段。

 とにかく、
終始冷静に、前向きに
英国人らしく、語り聞かせ、鼓舞。
一気に国民にやる気を起こさせ
一つにまとめられたのを目の当たりにした気がする。

 こんな女王の存在があるからこそ、
ここぞ！の時に、英国は一つにまとまるのだろう。

 なんだか羨ましくすら、、、思ってしまった。

 これを必死で訳しながら、
もはや途中からは、
英国民ではない私まで
なんだか勇気付けられたり。

今回の問題、コロナウィルス感染は
ロイヤルの生活をも一変させ
息子チャールズ皇太子が実際に感染されたり
また、女王ご自身も自主的隔離をされ、
もちろんご家族ともお会いになれず。

通常ならば100人いるスタッフ達は自宅へ
お世話をするのは、ほんの10名未満にまで縮小をされているそうで、
ご自身においてもご不便もあるでしょうが、
だからこそ、より国民を理解され、寄り添われた上での
お言葉と言えるでしょう。

英国の母、君主であり、歴代最長在位記録を持つ、
偉大な女王の存在感を示し、
かつ、国民に安心感をもたらされた。
しみじみ、
女王という存在は、
”人々の希望”
なのですね〜☆

また、
グリーンのドレスに、ターコイズのブローチという
女王ファッションからも
”Hope”や"healing"
（希望や癒し）
といった想いが象徴されていたように感じた。

 ターコイズ
そのカラーは、
”希望と癒し”
を、表しているという見方も。

 ブローチは、女王の祖母
クイーンメアリー（オブ・テック）が、
義理の両親エドワード7世とアレクサンドラオブデンマークから
1893年に、ウェディングギフトとして贈られたもの。

 さほど着用されてはいなかったが、
2016年の90歳のBD記念のイベント(@ウィンザー城)で、着用されていた。

And here she was again last night, performing an identical role an astonishing 80 years later. 
In the same corner of the same castle where 14-year-old Princess Elizabeth delivered her very first public address – to Britain's child evacuees – the longest-serving monarch in history (94 this month) was making the same point: this won't be easy but we'll get there in one piece if we all pull together, for the greater good of us all. 
Little wonder that as she concluded with the immortal words of Vera Lynn (103 last month), there was barely a dry eye in the land. 'We will meet again,' the Queen declared in words which prompted an instant tearful ovation across cyberspace. Everything about this four-and-a-half minute address seemed to bespeak permanence at a time when our lives have seldom felt more precarious
The 93-year-old monarch, speaking in a pre-recorded broadcast from Windsor Castle, spoke of the difficulties of self-isolation but reassured the country, saying: "We should take comfort that while we may have more still to endure, better days will return: we will be with our friends again; we will be with our families again; we will meet again."

私は、妹の助けと共に放送された、1940年の最初の放送を思い出しました。まだ子供だった私達は、ここウィンザーから、当時安全のため自宅から避難、疎開を余儀なくされた子供達に向けて話しました。再び言います、今多くの人々が、愛する人々との分離という辛さを伴う感覚を抱いていると思います。現在、そして今後も、心の中でそう感じることは、当然のことです。

私達はこれまでにも様々な問題に直面してきましたが、今回はこれまでのものとは異なります。今回私達は、世界中の全ての国とともに、
偉大な科学の進歩を用い、人間本来持っている思いやりで癒しあいながら、
共通の努力を重ねていきましょう。私達は成功します。そしてその成功は、私達全てのものです。

The Queen's Speech: Her Majesty's coronavirus address in full 

I am speaking to you at what I know is an increasingly challenging time. A time of disruption in the life of our country: a disruption that has brought grief to some, financial difficulties to many, and enormous changes to the daily lives of us all.
I want to thank everyone on the NHS front line, as well as care workers and those carrying out essential roles, who selflessly continue their day-to-day duties outside the home in support of us all. I am sure the nation will join me in assuring you that what you do is appreciated and every hour of your hard work brings us closer to a return to more normal times.
I also want to thank those of you who are staying at home, thereby helping to protect the vulnerable and sparing many families the pain already felt by those who have lost loved ones. Together we are tackling this disease, and I want to reassure you that if we remain united and resolute, then we will overcome it.
I hope in the years to come everyone will be able to take pride in how they responded to this challenge. And those who come after us will say the Britons of this generation were as strong as any. That the attributes of self-discipline, of quiet good-humoured resolve and of fellow-feeling still characterise this country. The pride in who we are is not a part of our past, it defines our present and our future.
The moments when the United Kingdom has come together to applaud its care and essential workers will be remembered as an expression of our national spirit; and its symbol will be the rainbows drawn by children.
Across the Commonwealth and around the world, we have seen heart-warming stories of people coming together to help others, be it through delivering food parcels and medicines, checking on neighbours, or converting businesses to help the relief effort.
And though self-isolating may at times be hard, many people of all faiths, and of none, are discovering that it presents an opportunity to slow down, pause and reflect, in prayer or meditation.
It reminds me of the very first broadcast I made, in 1940, helped by my sister. We, as children, spoke from here at Windsor to children who had been evacuated from their homes and sent away for their own safety. Today, once again, many will feel a painful sense of separation from their loved ones. But now, as then, we know, deep down, that it is the right thing to do.
While we have faced challenges before, this one is different. This time we join with all nations across the globe in a common endeavour, using the great advances of science and our instinctive compassion to heal. We will succeed - and that success will belong to every one of us.
We should take comfort that while we may have more still to endure, better days will return: we will be with our friends again; we will be with our families again; we will meet again.
But for now, I send my thanks and warmest good wishes to you all.

The song gave its name to the 1943 musical film We'll Meet Again which is shown here in which Dame Vera Lynn played the lead role.

1. Wood writing desk 
As is typical for a televised speech, the Queen was filmed sitting at a writing desk. It is the same desk in varnished wood that was featured in Her Majesty's 2019 Christmas speech.
2. Silver pen box
For her annual Christmas speech, the Queen is surrounded by a selection of family photos that are carefully chosen and displayed on the desk for the audience to see. However the royal family chose not to decorate the desk in such a way for this speech, hinting at the more formal tone. Instead there is a black leather desk mat with a blank pad of paper and an understated silver pen box. The box also appeared in her Christmas speech last year.
3. Plant pot with red roses 
At the corner of the desk is a simple white and blue ceramic plant pot filled with flowers. The blooms are thought to be a variety of miniature rose. 
4. Table lamp
To create a sense of intimacy in the vast space, a round side table has been placed behind Her Majesty. The table is clear except for a single white ceramic table lamp that is thought to have been moved from elsewhere in the room. It has been housed in the White Drawing Room for more than 30 years and appeared in a 1987 photograph taken of the Queen and Prince Philip to mark their ruby wedding anniversary. 
5. Four-panel folding screen 
In the background of the photograph there is part of a four-panel folding screen that is used to partition the vast drawing room. Although not distinguishable in this photograph, displayed on each of the screens is a series of scenes. 
6. White striped armchair 
Behind Her Majesty is a single white armchair, part of a pair that are housed in the White Drawing Room. The chairs are moved around the space as needed to accommodate varying number of guests. The armchair is upholstered in a fabric with a glossy finish, similar to satin. They match a blue three-seater settee in a similar fabric. 

7. Oak cabinet, circa. 1783
This cabinet is part of a pair, which are often positioned at either side of the large double doors that lead from the White Drawing Room to the Crimson Drawing Room and onto the Green Drawing Room. The other cabinet in the set is an oak cabinet veneered with tulipwood, purplewood, mahogany and boxwood; fitted with brocatello marble, elaborately chased gilt bronze mounts and inset with ten soft-paste porcelain plaques. The cabinet was designed by Martin Carlin (1730-85). The similarities between the two suggest they could have been made by the same craftsman around the same time, although this is not confirmed.


8. Pair of candelabra 
Just seen at the top right of the image is the gold base of a candelabra. The lighting fixture takes the shape of a man, although only the feet can be seen. It is part of a set that is moved around the White Drawing Room as needed.

9. Portrait of a child with sword  
Out of frame at the top of the image is the portrait of a young child holding a sword, although it is not known who it depicts. The same painting features in the background of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank wedding photos.  

10. Carpet survived the great fire
The floor of the White Drawing Room is covered with a carpet by famed Devon-based manufacturer Axminster Carpets that dates back to at least 1890. The carpet was damaged by smoke in the Windsor Castle fire of 1992 but has since been restored.

Many noticed the Queen's sparkling accessory, a piece in her collection that was left to her by her grandmother, Queen Mary. Fans took to Twitter to discuss her choice, with one writing: "I think she may have been showing continuity and the assurance that the world has been through ominous times before and overcome. I was struck by her reference to her WWII address, and of course a brooch which had seen bad times and good."

 The monarch has chosen to wear the turquoise brooch only a number of times, debuting it in 2014 despite its long history. She was given the elegant piece upon Mary's death in 1953.

 In fact, turquoise itself has a powerful meaning – considered to be a sacred stone by many cultures, it was one of the first gemstones to be mined, and was cherished by the ancient Egyptians. It is described as a protective stone with healing qualities and a smooth, soothing finish. The Queen often chooses her brooches carefully for specific occasions, so perhaps she wanted to continue her message of support with the beautiful jewellery.

The royal's brooch appeared to nod to nights of happiness and celebration as she delivered a message of hope during the coronavirus crisis 

The piece was a wedding gift from Mary’s in-law’s, the-then Prince and Princess of Wales, who later became King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra.
The Queen is believed to have inherited the brooch after Queen Mary's death in 1953, but didn't wear the piece for many years.

She first donned the brooch during a visit to Derbyshire to celebrate the 230th anniversary of knitwear company John Smedley Ltd.  
The royal has since only worn it a handful of times and, perhaps most significantly, selected the piece for the final evening of her 90th birthday celebrations in 2016.
