In a piece for her lifestyle blog the Tig,
Meghan shared the following on their friendship:
"We hit it off immediately, taking pictures, laughing through the flag football game we were both playing in, and chatting not about tennis or acting, but about all the good old fashioned girly stuff. So began our friendship. She quickly became a confidante I would text when I was traveling, the friend I would rally around for her tennis matches, and the down to earth chick I was able to grab lunch with just a couple weeks ago in Toronto. We are both the same age, have a penchant for hot sauces and adore fashion, but what connects us more than those things is perhaps our belief in exceeding expectations – our endless ambition. Serena is undoubtedly one of the best tennis players the world has ever seen."

The three friends, who all attended Northwestern University, followed the action intently this afternoon
Genevieve Hillis, who co-hosted Meghan's baby shower with Williams and Lindsay Roth.

During her first year at Northwestern, Meghan became firm friends with Lindsay Roth and the two have been best friends since:
"We’re the kind of friends who can be 3,000 miles away and still be talking about or thinking the same thing, and even texting each other the same thing at the same time miles away." Lindsay is now a published author primarily known for her book What Pretty Girls Are Made Of.
Meghan was Lindsay's maid of honour and gave her a very special gift before the big day. From the New York Times:
"When Lindsay Roth’s maid of honor called and said that she needed to fly to Toronto, she knew Ms. Markle had something up her sleeve. The maid of honor, Meghan Markle, an actress in the television drama "Suits," had arranged for her to have a private fitting at the Kleinfeld Hudson’s Bay in Toronto. 'I felt like the most special bride,' Ms. Roth said. When Ms. Roth tried on a Zuhair Murad gown, her entourage confirmed what she already knew. 'I knew before I even saw myself in the mirror that it was 'The Dress.' The icing on the cake was an Oscar de la Renta veil of cascading flowers that completed the look. 'At the end of our wedding night I didn’t want to take the dress (and earlier, the veil) off,' said Ms. Roth. 'I’d have slept in it if I could’ve!'"

Meghan wore a pair of Outland Denim jeans during the tour in October. 'The Meghan Effect' was transformative for the sustainable brand. People reported:
'By choosing sustainable and ethical labels, the Duchess of Sussex, 37, has had a life-changing impact on a number of brands. Among them: Outland Denim, which Meghan wore the on tour Down Under last fall. After stepping out in their black skinny jeans ($195), sales increased by a whopping 640%. The massive increase enabled founder James Bartle to hire 46 seamstresses in his Cambodian factory – many of whom are either victims of sex trafficking or forced labor.
“The core of our business is about giving opportunity to vulnerable women, and for Meghan to align so closely with that and to expose us to the world, it’s been huge,” Bartle tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue.
After initially announcing on Instagram that he would be hiring 15-30 new seamstresses as a result of increased sales, that figure has continued to grow. Now, three months since the royal tour (where Meghan wore their Harriet high-rise skinny jeans no less than six times!), 46 families have a brighter future.
“To come from the situation they were in previously to a situation where they are making jeans fit for a princess – that’s a big deal,” says the founder, whose wife, Erica Bartle, also works for the company.'
The brand said "We continue to be humbled by the support of the Duchess". The Harriet is available for pre-order on the Outland Denim website.
They are made in Kabul by artisans of the Turquoise Mountain Foundation.

The Australian fine jewellery brand was created by Central Saint Martins Alumni Emma Swann in 2013 from a small workshop in the heart of Sydney.
Meghan wore their love heart necklace in Australia.
That fine piece of jewellery was the work of London-born, Australian-based designer Emma Swann, who creates delicate necklaces and custom rings (including this writer’s wedding band) out of her inner Sydney studio.
Emma first got in touch with the Duchess of Sussex’s people when Meghan and Harry were visiting Australia in October, and sent off one of her ‘love letter’ necklaces when Archie was born.
“I’m such a royal fan and also gave her another personalise necklace when they were over for the Invictus Games last year,” she tells Yahoo Lifestyle.
“It’s wonderful to see how Meghan embraces fashion and doesn’t always fit the ‘royal’ mode. Hopefully she’ll wear that one soon too!”
The necklace retails for $590 in yellow gold, and can also be made with a love heart, or with two letters for $675
Meghan has previously been photographed wearing a delicate 18-carat gold 'mommy' necklace when she was seven-months-pregnant, with many believing it could have been one of her baby shower gifts. The new necklace is believed to be from the same brand
