Meghan walked on stage to cheering applause, she said:
"It is such a pleasure to be here celebrating British fashion and British fashion designers in my new home of the UK. It's so nice to see so many familiar faces; many of you I've known for quite a while and a lot of you I've been able to meet in the past year, so thank you for the warm welcome."
"As all of you in this room know, we have a deep connection to what we wear. Sometimes it's very personal, sometimes it's emotional. But for me this connection is rooted in really being able to understand that it's about supporting and empowering each other, especially as women."
The Duchess noted she recently read an article which said
"the culture of fashion is shifting from where it was cool to be cruel to where it's cool to be kind. To that point, I feel especially proud to announce tonight's winner, who yes is a British designer leading on the global stage with vision and creativity, but also in incredible kindness, which is why when I met her for the first time eleven months ago, I knew that we'd be working very closely together".

The designer told the audience:
'This woman is so amazing. I got to know Meghan on such a personal level'
Born in Birmingham, the designer studied at Ravensbourne College of Art, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in fashion, followed by a master's degree at the Royal College of Art. She started at Calvin Klein in New York as a stylist for the women's ready-to-wear line, then at Ralph Lauren. Ms Waight Keller last year became the first female artistic director at the historic French fashion house Givenchy.
Their collaborative journey began in January when Meghan selected Waight Keller to design her wedding gown. "It was an extraordinary moment when she told me. Of course it's an incredible thing to be part of such a historic moment. I think she had very much seen my work and knew what I did. I think she loved the fact that I was a British designer, and working in a house such as Givenchy which has its roots in a very classical, beautiful style.

Katherine Graves, founder of KG Hypnobirthing, told FEMAIL that when mothers-to-be put their hands on their bumps in hypnobirthing classes, the 'baby responds every time'.
Even if the gesture is solely a comforting gesture for Meghan herself, that will 'have a profound effect on her baby', said Katherine, who helps train midwives working at the Lindo Wing, where the Duchess of Cambridge gave birth, before adding that 'it's a positive thing for both mum and baby to touch and reassure'.

So I knew at the onset I wanted a bateau neckline, I wanted a cropped sleeve, I wanted a very timeless, classic feeling and, obviously with respect to the environment we were in and St George’s Chapel, being really modest in what it would look like, I knew that the tailoring was so key, because the dress itself would be so covered up."

The new patronage has been announced ahead of Her Royal Highness' visit to Evelina London later this morning with The Duke of Cambridge. The visit will see Their Royal Highnesses learn more about how the hospital supports children and their families, and the specialist services provided to children with rare and complex conditions.
Through visits to hospitals and hospices The Duchess has seen first-hand the impact that comprehensive care and support can have upon young children. Her Royal Highness’s new patronage of Evelina London provides an opportunity to champion the medical professionals working on the front-line in children’s healthcare, and shine a light on their work supporting children in their early years.
The hospital, which is next year marking its 150th anniversary, is part of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, of which The Queen is Patron. Evelina London cares for children and young people from before birth, throughout childhood and into adult life. The hospital provides a range of services to children across south London and south east England. Evelina London also provides community services for children and their families in Lambeth and Southwark.

Travel to
the St Vincent’s Centre of the homeless charity
”The Passage”
to hear from frontline workers about the challenges relating to street homelessness, including drug addiction and mental health issues.
Established in 1980, The Passage provides resources to encourage, inspire and challenge homeless people to make lasting and long-term changes to their lives.
William first visited the charity in 1994 with his younger brother, Harry, when the pair were 12 and 10, alongside their mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.
In 2016 the duke reopened the newly refurbished St Vincent’s Centre in Victoria, central London.
During their visit, William and Kate will also meet people using The Passage’s services and join them in an arts and crafts workshop preparing gifts ahead of the centre’s Christmas party

常々思っていた、

なぜ皆様もれなく
西洋の正装をお召しになるのか。
和装じゃダメなのかしら？

なんだか、言われるがまま
合わせるがまま、な気がするけれど。
もちろん、ファッションになどご興味があると思えないし

シンプルに、
なぜ洋装に合わせる必要があるのかな〜？
っていう違和感。
最もしっくりくるものをお召しになれば良いのに、、と思っていた。
それが洋装ならが、もちろんOK
そして本庶教授にとっては、それが和装だった。
