《キャサリン妃が動画でガンを公表》

ロイヤルリサーチも終わって
ちょうど、お風呂が沸きました、とサインが鳴ったところで
午前3時
ケンジントンパレスの投稿が、、、、

見るなり、すぐに嫌な予感がした
そして動画を見て、しばしフリーズした、、、

キャサリン妃が、動画の中で癌を公表

同週水曜日に、ウィンザーで撮影されたようで
春の花に囲まれたベンチに座って冷静に語られました。

動画＆メッセージ全文は↓↓に。

まずは、手術以降、応援してくれる人々への感謝
そして、この数ヶ月を思い返しながら、医療チームへの感謝
そこから病状の経過について。
1月に受けられた、当初ガンではないと見られていた、手術が無事成功するも
術後の検査でガンが発見
それにより、医療チームからのアドバイスによって、”予防的化学療法”を。
現在、キャサリン妃はその初期段階であること。

そして、キャサリン妃ご自身のショックは勿論、
これまで皇太子とともに、ご家族のためにできることをやってこられたこと。
それには時間がかかったということ。
◉癌の治療のために、まずは手術からの回復
◉３人のお子様たちに説明し、理解し、大丈夫であると信じてもらうこと

お子様たちへと同様に、国民へも
ご自分が大丈夫であると、安心させるお言葉とともに
夫ウィリアム皇太子の存在や、多くの人のサポートや愛への感謝を述べられると同時に
治療の間、時間、空間、プライバシーが必要であると理解を求められました。

最後は、公務にふれられ、
これまで公務がもたらした喜びと、また同じくガンで人生を左右された人々のことを想い
一緒に頑張りましょう、といったメッセージで締められました。


ここからは私の見解

1月に手術＆入院の発表がされた時点で、
パレスが「皇太子はガンではありません」と前置きをしていたのは
やはり事実だった、ということに。
まさか、そのあとに発覚するなんて、
私達もびっくりだけど
それはご本人がもっとも衝撃だったはず、、、。
そのショックたるや、、、まだ42歳で、、

当然それを受け入れる時間がかかるはず、、
というより受け入れたくないというのが普通

さらには、手術したばかりで、
化学療法で治療するための回復までにも、時間を要し、だなんて。

更には、我が子のこと、、、、
でも、お子様たちがいらっしゃるから
強くあろうともされただろうし
逆に、だから辛い話もしなきゃいけない（泣）

心の余裕などあるはずも無ければ、時間がかかるのは至極当然。

にも関わらず、私たちまわりは、、、。
当初の想定外で、パレス（キャサリン妃）は
国民を安心させるべく、母の日に画像を出したら加工騒動、
更には、パパラッチされた買い物姿を公開されるのを許しても、
依然好き勝手な憶測は止むどころか、悪化の一途。

それから数日後に、この告白

私も幾度となく、
「隠されると知りたくなるもの」
と書いたし、なにか発表しちゃえば落ち着くのに、、と願っていたことは事実だけに
心が痛い。。

てっきり、この動画と病状公表は、
キャサリン妃にとっての最後の手だったのか、、、と思ったが
どうやら、そんなこちら側に合わせた理由ではなかった。。。

さすが、未来の国王＆王妃、だった。

上記の通り、時間を要したことに加え、
キーは、なぜにこの日この動画公開となったか、にある。

実は、この日は、３人のお子様たちの学校（ランブルック校）の最終日
翌日から、イースター休暇に入るため
子供たちを、公的な騒ぎから遠ざけることができるということ。

間違いなく、このニュースが世界中の話題となることは推測できるし
そうなる前に、我が子を隔離（家族と）というわけです。

だって、これまでだって、もしやお子様たちは学校で、
色々聞かれていたかもしれない、、、
そこで、プリンス＆プリンセスの皆様は、
口をつぐまなきゃいけなかったのかもしれない、、、

ご自身のショックを隠し、
何より、子供たちを守ることを最優先に考えられた結果。
やはりキャサリン妃は母、そして強かった。。。

10歳のジョージ王子、シャーロット王女が8歳、まだ5歳のルイ王子が、
どこまで、どのように理解をされたのかはわかるよしもないけれど
皇太子妃ご一家が、この数ヶ月を家族で乗り越えてこられたということを想うと、、、。

ウィリアム皇太子は、幼い頃に愛する母を亡くされてもいるし
その時のことを思い出すと同時に
我が子の気持ちも、誰よりお分かりになるだろうから
ダブルでお辛いはず。

思い返せば2月27日、皇太子が
名付け親であった亡きギリシャのコンスタンティヌス国王の追悼式を欠席されたのも、
実はこれが理由だったというのに
世間では、その後、不倫に不倫相手の妊娠だの好き勝手なウワサ話にあふれ
それを、一切スルーしながら、妻を支え、公務までされていたウィリアム皇太子（泣）

父と妻が同時に癌だなんて、、、
普通でもありえないほどのショックだが
皇太子としては、更なるプレッシャーがのしかかるはず。。。
それを一切出さずに公の場に、、、

まさに、今かつてない困難な時期の皇太子
しかし、お見事だ、、、

キャサリン妃も、
そもそも、癌という病状するも告白せざるを得ない
皇太子妃というお立場や、告白された勇気
敬服しかない。

今回の件で
一気に、未来の国王＆王妃として
見事な対応をされ、今後の英国王室の安心感を印象付けた。

ちなみに、ケンジントン宮殿は、
『王女は2月下旬に予防的化学療法を開始し、現在は回復に向かっています。
とするも
これ以上の詳細については
キャサリン妃のガンがどのようなものであるか、
病期について
治療を受けている場所
NHS（国民健康サービス）での治療、それともプライベートでの治療か、
など
公表しないとしており、憶測でもものを言わないよう求めています。

つい先日には、
キャサリン妃が手術を受けられたロンドンクリニック内で、
皇太子妃の病状を探るべくアクセスが判明し、
院内のスタッフが数名解雇されたことも発覚

その昔にも、
キャサリン妃がジョージ王子を妊娠中、
つわりで緊急入院された病院で
オーストラリアのラジオ番組が、生電話をかけ
それに対応してしまった看護婦さんが
自殺すると言った事件も起こりましたからねえ、、、

公表をしないことは、セキュリティ面でも納得というもの。

現在英国王室では、
チャールズ国王も癌闘病中で、
そしてセーラ夫人も、昨年乳がん発覚に続いて、
半年後の今年一月、皮膚ガンも発見され、2月から化学療法を開始

まさに異例の事態だけれど
それを乗り越えるのが英国王室。。。

この発表直後、チャールズ国王はSNSを通じ、
「愛すべき義理の娘の、この勇気ある発表を誇りに思います。」
と述べられました。

そして、公表直後には、キャサリン妃の弟ジェームズ・ミドルトン氏（36歳）も
SNSで、幼い頃の画像とメッセージを投稿

James took to Instagram to share a childhood photo with the Princess on a hiking trip, saying: 'Over the years, we have climbed many mountains together. As a family, we will climb this one with you too.' 
ハイキングに出かけたプリンセスとの幼少期の写真をインスタグラムで公開
『何年もの間、私たちは一緒にたくさんの山に登ってきた。家族として、この山も一緒に登ろう』

この方も、かつて重篤なうつ病で苦しんだ過去があり
その時もご家族で支え合い。

なんと、このニュースを受けて
ハリー王子＆メーガン夫人も、
直接連絡を取ったと言われているんです。
そしてこんな声明も。

in a statement:
 'We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace.'
『ケイトと家族の健康と回復を祈り、彼らが私的に、そして平和的にそうできることを願っています』

そりゃあそうか、、とも思えるけれど
一方で、なんだかそれすら計算（注目を集める）っぽく思えてしまうところが、、、
まさか英国帰国、、なんてことはないよね、とさえ。
こういう時には、静かにお願いします。

他にも、翌日には、米国から
キム・カーダシアン、ブレイク・ライブリーなど
米セレブたちが、
キャサリン妃を皮肉ったジョーク投稿を削除し始めたとか。
ほんと酷いね、、、
アメリカ人に対する偏見ついちゃいそうだわ、、、

一方で、2020年コロナ禍のロックダウン最中に知り合った、
ガン闘病中だった少女Milaちゃん（8歳）も
キャサリン妃の病気のことを知り、投稿。

最後に、キャサリン妃動画で
私が印象に残ったところ

◉キャサリン妃の勇気、と冷静な語り
◉「時間がかかった」という言葉の裏の苦悩
（ご自身のショックと闘いながら、
家族とお子様たちのことを考えて今の結果に至ったこと）
◉ウィリアム皇太子の心情と強さ
◉最後の言葉
「どうか信念や希望を失わないでください。あなたはひとりではありません。」
ご自分に言い聞かせられているようにも思えるし
また、
「あなたはひとりではありません」
この言葉といえば、、、そう
2020年のクリスマススピーチで、エリザベス女王が語られた言葉でも❤️
きっと、ここから引用されたのでしょう。

私には、キャサリン妃が王妃に見えました。。。

'Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance too. As is the love, support and kindness that has been shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both.

'We hope that you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space and privacy while I complete my treatment. My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to being back when I am able, but for now I must focus on making a full recovery.

'At this time, I am also thinking of all those whose lives have been affected by cancer. For everyone facing this disease, in whatever form, please do not lose faith or hope. You are not alone.'

彼らに言ったように、私は元気で、心も体も精神も治ることに集中することで、日々強くなっています。

ウィリアムがそばにいてくれることも、大きな慰めと安心の源です。
多くの皆さんから受けた愛、サポート、優しさもそうです。
私たち二人にとって、とても大きな意味を持っています。

私が治療を終える間、家族として、私たちには今、時間、空間、プライバシーが必要であることを理解して頂けることを願います。
私の仕事はいつも私に深い喜びをもたらしてくれましたし、可能な限り復帰することを楽しみにしていますが、今は完全に回復することに集中しなければなりません。

皇太子妃のプライベートな医療記録にアクセスしようとした疑いがあるとして
英国のプライバシー監視機関である情報コミッショナー事務局が調査を開始。
院内のスタッフ数名が解雇されたとも言われている。

その昔（ジョージ王子を妊娠中の急遽の入院）には
キャサリン妃の入院先とみられる病院に、
AUのラジオ番組が生電話をかけ、
それに対応してしまった看護婦さんが、自殺という事態もありました。。

Annus Horribilis 2024: Timeline of the Royal Family's turbulent start to the year 

January 16: The Princess of Wales is secretly admitted to The London Clinic and undergoes abdominal surgery.

January 17, 2pm: Kensington Palace announces Kate's operation and says she will remain in for up to 14 days. She is not expected to return to duties until after Easter. Prince William steps back from his official duties to care for her.

January 17, 3.25pm: Buckingham Palace announces that King Charles is to have treatment for a benign enlarged prostate and will be admitted to hospital in a few days' time.

January 21: It is announced that the King's former sister-in-law, Sarah, Duchess of York, has malignant melanoma, a form of skin cancer.

January 26: The King, with the Queen at his side, is admitted to the London Clinic for treatment for an enlarged prostate and also visits Kate, who is recovering in the same hospital.

January 29: The King is discharged from hospital and waves at well-wishers. Kate leaves the clinic on the same day to continue her recovery at home, but she is not seen outside.

February 5: Buckingham Palace announces the King has a form of cancer, but not prostate cancer, and has started treatment as an outpatient.

February 7 : Prince Harry arrives in the UK from California to visit his father the King, before leaving the following day. There is no meeting with William.

February 27: William pulls out of a memorial service for the late King Constantine of Greece in Windsor due to a 'personal matter.' Unrelated to this, later that day Buckingham Palace separately says Thomas Kingston, the son-in-law of Prince Michael of Kent, had died at the age of 45.

Late February: Kensington Palace said on March 22 that Kate started a course of 'preventative chemotherapy' in 'late February', but not the exact date.

March 4: Kate is photographed for the first time since undergoing surgery. TMZ publishes a paparazzi picture of her taken in Windsor, being driven by her mother Carole Middleton.

March 5: The Army removes a claim on its website that Kate is reviewing Trooping the Colour in June.

March 10: The first picture of Kate to be released after her surgery is posted on social media by Kensington Palace to mark Mother's Day.

March 11: Kate publicly takes the blame for editing the photograph as she issues a personal apology for the 'confusion', after multiple news agencies withdraw the image.

March 18: A video of Kate smiling alongside William during a visit to a farm shop in Windsor is published online, following a visit on March 16.

March 19: It is revealed that an investigation has been launched at the London Clinic over claims staff tried to access Kate's private medical records.

March 22: Kate announces in a video that she is having chemotherapy after tests following her surgery found cancer had been present.
