『Lambrook:

Lambrook is a preparatory school in Berkshire for boys and girls from ages three to 13.
There are 610 pupils at the Church of England school, and according to the Good Schools Guide, the boarding fee for Lambrook School last year was £25,440.

The day fee for 2021 to 2022 was estimated between £13,167 and £20,997.

Lambrook's website states:

"Saturday School takes place each week, followed by an afternoon of sports fixtures for all pupils in Year 5 and above."

It seems then that both Charlotte and George will need to be in school each Saturday mornings, while George, who is going into Year 5, will also have sporting events on Saturday afternoons.

The school website says of their sporting offering: "At Prep level, pupils take part in football, rugby, hockey, athletics, netball and cricket. Cricket and football are now both compulsory for our girls and we have had some fantastic success in these disciplines." Lambrook also offers golf, lacrosse, trampolining, badminton, squash, tennis, swimming, basketball and skiing.

The independent preparatory school for boys and girls has a strict 21-page anti-bullying policy, and it's an issue they clearly take very seriously

Their mission statement reads: "Lambrook School is committed to providing a caring, friendly and safe environment for all of its pupils so they can learn in a relaxed and secure atmosphere. Bullying of any kind is unacceptable at Lambrook."

The detailed document goes on to outline how the institution aims to stamp out cyberbullying too, not just verbal and physical incidents which happen on school grounds.

Set in 52 acres of Berkshire countryside, Lambrook School gives its pupils 'feathers to fly' and a 'delicious sense of freedom

Prince Louis will be starting reception
The fee is £4,389 per term which totals £13,167 across all three terms.
This will remain the same until he hits year three when the costs rise.

Years three and four are categorised as 'lower school' and come in at £6,448 per term, meaning Princess Charlotte's education will set her parents back £19,344 per year.

Years five – eight are £6,999 per term meaning Prince George will be the most expensive child in school for the Cambridges, totalling £20,997.

*************************************************

What is the school's vision?

Lambrook aims to nurture their pupils and give them 'feathers to fly', according to the Good Schools Guide.

Jonathan Perry, the headmaster at Lambrook since 2010, explains this further: "We give them feathers to fly so that when they leave us, they will spread their wings and take flight."

Mr. Perry is also described as having a "gentle, encouraging" approach, being "charm personified", and is committed to setting up a bursary programme for the school, due in part to his Christian values.

Mr. Perry also meets with the families of all prospective pupils to "ensure that we are the best fit for their needs" and is "not afraid to turn away" the ones that don't share the school's ethos.

What subjects might George, Charlotte, and Louis study?

Lambrook offers a wide range of subjects for its pupils, so there'll be plenty to keep George, Charlotte, and Louis busy. The royals will have lessons in French, Religious Studies, Design and Technology and, from year five onwards, Latin is compulsory. There's also Saturday school from this age.

Lambrook also has a total of 178 LAMDA lessons on offer each week along with 420 individual music lessons, from tap dancing to bagpipe playing.

If the Cambridges can carry a tune, they might also join the senior chapel choir when they're older, which has performed in Notre Dame and Windsor Castle. They'll also spend a lot of time in Lambrook's beautiful chapel, where there are four services a week and pupils' families, as well as outside speakers, attend on Saturdays.

What are the school grounds and facilities like?

The school grounds are 52 acres, so the royals will have plenty of space to roam and play in (less space than at their new home Adelaide Cottage, however, which sits on the Windsor Estate with a whopping 655 acres).

There is a nine-hole golf course, a 25-metre swimming pool, and a large sports hall, so there will be plenty of opportunity for the Princes and Princess to get stuck into sports.

The children tumble back into school "ruddy-cheeked and full of fresh air," according to the Good Schools Guide.

The guide also describes the classrooms as being "single-storey, wooden-clad buildings with big windows that let in lots of natural light". They are "strikingly clean-smelling and up-to-date teaching spaces - no dusty corners or tired paintwork".

The dining room is also currently being renovated to reduce waiting times and to accommodate more pupils.

How many children attend Lambrook School?

This place is a thriving independent school which is home to 620 boys and girls.

What kind of charity work will the royals do?

The royals won't just be spending their time having lessons and exploring the vast grounds: the school also prioritises helping out those in need.

Year 7 pupils raise £500 to pay for an underprivileged child to go canoeing in Sweden, through the Teenage Wilderness Trust, and they're not allowed to simply ask their parents to write a cheque. They have to do volunteering activities such as baking cakes or washing cars to raise the funds.

Pupils also get to visit Lambrook's partner school near Durban in South Africa, where they play cricket with pupils there and donate practical things like pens or toothbrushes. "They come back as better individuals," says headmaster Jonathan Perry.

George, Charlotte and Louis will also be learning about the importance of sustainability – an issue their grandfather Prince Charles is particularly passionate about.

Every class has a veg patch, there are lessons on ecology and the food industry, and pupils planted 300 saplings last year to reduce their carbon footprint. The school also houses rabbits which the children are welcome to pet at lunchtimes.

The main colours are navy blue and dark green.
Both boys' and girls' shirts are a green and white check pattern, while girls wear a navy, green and white kilt skirt.
The school blazer is navy, while the summer dress is a pretty navy and white check.

the uniform and sports kit lists for Pre-Prep Boys (Prince Louis),
Prep Boys (Prince George)
 Prep Girls (Princess Charlotte)
and also included the optional items when we added up the total cost.

We did not include sports shoes, trainers, hockey sticks, name tapes or hair accessories in our calculations.

The Pre-Prep Boys' uniform and sports kit that Louis will need comes to approximately £450

The Prep Boys' uniform and sports kit for George adds up to roughly £850
while the Prep Girls' uniform and sports kit for Charlotte is around £700.

For all three children, the Lambrook uniform total cost is about £2000

This price could be higher if buying more of a particular item eg school shirts, or less if William and Kate decide against buying the optional items.

There's a fair amount of sportswear on the uniform lists and the children will be taking lessons in cricket, rugby, hockey, swimming and football.

moving to ”Adelaide Cottage”
on the Queen's Windsor estate

new four-bedroom home

Adelaide Cottage is seen, circa 1900. It was built in 1831 as a retreat for William IV's wife Queen Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen

New home has link to royal scandal and gilded dolphin ceiling

The Cambridges' new home Adelaide Cottage is a pretty Grade II listed four-bedroom home nestled in Windsor's Home Park.

It was once home to Princess Margaret's lover Peter Townsend, who lived in the grace and favour property in the 1940s with his first wife Rosemary to be on hand for the king in his role as equerry.

Princess Elizabeth, now the Queen, her mother Queen Elizabeth and her sister Margaret, as a teenager before the romance began, would regularly take tea in the gardens of the cottage with the Townsends and their two young sons. Margaret's love affair rocked the Establishment, but she put duty before desire when she called off plans to marry divorced Townsend in 1955.

Relocating to Adelaide Cottage means William, Kate, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are just 10 minutes' walk south east from 'Gan Gan' the Queen at Windsor Castle. Even closer is Frogmore Cottage, which the Duke and Duchess of Sussex use when visiting the UK, although the brothers' long-running fallout makes it unlikely they will be socialising together any time soon.

The property was rebuilt more than 190 years ago as a cottage orne, or decorated cottage, for Queen Adelaide, the wife of William IV, to be used as a summer retreat. It was built in 1831 on the site of the old Head Keeper's Lodge on the North Slopes of Home Park.

According to Historic England, the public body which cares for England's historic buildings and places, Adelaide Cottage is a 'picturesque' two-storey stucco-faced dwelling with casement windows, and elaborate pierced bargeboards edging the roof.

The principal bedroom has a coved ceiling decorated with gilded dolphins and rope ornament reused from the 19th century royal yacht Royal George, and a good marble Graeco-Egyptian fireplace.

The south entrance is flanked by paired diagonally set chimneys with stepped bases, and the house has a porte-cochere, a canopied entrance to provide shelter. There is a verandah with bargeboard eaves on the east side.

Its four-bedrooms mean that for the first time since she joined the family, William and Kate's full-time nanny Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo will live elsewhere, as will other staff including the housekeeper and the chef, giving the Cambridges more privacy.

The location offers the family easy access to the private 655-acre Home Park and the historic royal estate's network of drives, gardens, farms, nearby trout stream, Frogmore House and Royal Mausoleum, and Queen Victoria's Walk flanked by cedars. Other benefits include neighbouring Windsor Great Park, which spans more than 5,000 acres, with its Long Walk leading up to Windsor Castle, deer park and woodland trails in the Valley Gardens.

The property, previously known as Adelaide Lodge, was constructed by Sir Jeffry Wyatville using materials from John Nash's Royal Lodge built for the indulgent Prince Regent. Its entrance bears the initials AR (Adelaide Regina) and the date of 1831. It sits next to another property called Adelaide Lodge, which is empty and inhabitable due to problems with it not being underpinned.

Queen Victoria often visited the cottage for breakfast or tea, according to the Royal Collection Trust. Her beloved King Charles spaniel Dash, whom she would dress in a scarlet jacket and blue trousers, was buried there after his death in 1840.

He was honoured with an effusive inscription on his grave reading: 'Here lies Dash, The favourite spaniel of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, In his 10th year, His attachment was without selfishness, His playfulness without malice, His fidelity without deceit, Reader, If you would be beloved and die regretted, Profit by the example of Dash.'

The house, which features a fountain in the centre of the garden, was more recently home to Simon Rhodes, the son of the Queen's late first cousin Margaret Rhodes.

Which four properties do William and Kate now have available to use?

- Kensington Palace Apartment 1A

Their central London home, Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace, used to belong to Princess Margaret, and will remain their official working residence. It was refurbished at a cost of £4.5million to the taxpayer with a new roof and electrics, and the removal of asbestos.

It has some 20 rooms and a large, private walled garden. The Cambridges added a second kitchen, wanting a private family one in addition to the existing 350 sq ft kitchen.

Before William and Kate moved to 'KP' in 2013, royal aides insisted it would remain their main home for 'many, many years to come'.

A royal spokesman said at the time: 'This is the duke and duchess's one and only official residence. It is here that they plan to stay for many, many years to come.'

- Anmer Hall

Anmer Hall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's 10-bedroom country retreat, was a gift to the couple from the Queen following their wedding.

The secluded red brick Georgian mansion sits on the monarch's vast, private Sandringham estate in Norfolk and is a short drive from Sandringham House.

Kate oversaw the major renovations, including the conversion of wood stores into accommodation for the nanny and the creation of a garden room.

The duchess was dubbed 'Three kitchens Kate' after it was reported that a new kitchen was to be installed in place of the £50,000 designer one already there, with the family already having two kitchens at Kensington Palace.

The bolt-hole, which had a swimming pool and a tennis court, was given a £500,000 new roof, as well as a garden room, re-landscaped front driveway and new nursery for Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

The renovations, said to come to £1.5 million, were paid for mostly from the royal family's private funds.

- Adelaide Cottage

The Grade II listed four-bed house in Windsor's private Home Park is William and Kate's newest home.

Owned by the Crown Estate, the duke and duchess will pay market rent on the picturesque historic building which is close to Windsor Castle.

It was built in 1831 for Queen Adelaide as a summer retreat and used to be the grace and favour home of Peter Townsend, whose love affair with Princess Margaret rocked the monarchy in the 1950s.
