そういえば、バーミンガムは
ご結婚後、数ヶ月後に
訪問されたことがありました。

それ以来、
2度目ということに。

ロンドンから北西部
イングランドはウェストミッドランズ
ここ工業都市で
この地らしい
数カ所をご訪問

ジャガー/ランドローバーのソリフル製造工場
アストン・ヴィラFC

大きく分けて

3つの公務に。
まずジャガー/ランドローバーは
ロイヤルファミリーといえば
そりゃあもう、
長きにわたり密接な関係

ウィリアム王子キャサリン妃も
ともに愛用車はランドローバー

その他、多くのロイヤルメンバーズや

ミドルトン家も。

エリザベス女王に至っては、

少なくとも、これまで

合計30台は下らない

とも言われている。

お馬も車もガンガン運転

カッコいい。

懐かしい！

私も居た

昨年のエリザベス女王90歳のバースデーイベント

パトロンズランチ

の時の映像をご覧になり

勿論その際に皆様が乗っていらしたのは

ランドローバーのオープントップ

480エーカーにも及ぶ広大な敷地では

週8000台もの車が生産されているのだとか。

24時間稼働し

従業員の数は

1万人

その

生産ラインの視察

生産工程をご覧になったり

スタッフ達や、見習いの人々とお会いに。

そして移動

エクスペリエンスセンターへ。

マウンテン レスキューのボランティアたちとお会いに。

ここで、なんと、
妊娠中のおからにも関わらず

オフロード車に乗車
見ててコワ〜〜い所を自ら運転！！！
(^_^;)

その後は

更生、教育、若者たち、チャリティワーク、環境問題等にフォーカスした

プロジェクトをサポートしている

ジャガー/ランドローバーの

ボランティア達とお会いに。

そして、その後は、
ウィリアム王子がサポーター！！！
の、アストン・ヴィラで
トレーニングセッションにも参加

ここでは

ロイヤルファウンデーションのプロジェクト

コーチ コアも絡んでおり

見習いコーチ達とお会いに
最後は

1870年設立
147年の歴史を持つ
ホイッスルの会社
《Acme Whistles》
を訪問

英国の警官が使うホイッスルを作ったのがここだそう。

家族経営で、未だ
ハンドメイドによるものづくり

なんと
週に11万5000個も生産されているのだとか。

世界
119カ国で販売されているそうです。

それも納得
ブランド名は知らなかったが、
物を見ると、皆絶対知ってる、、、と思われる。

学校で先生が使ってた笛だと思うな〜
だいぶ昔のことで記憶がはっきりしないけど
こんなのだった。。

ここで、

工場見学や

いろんなホイッスルの音をお聴きに。

そこでこんなジョークも。

「それをジョージには見せないで。
一生僕らに平和はやって来ないよ」

スタッフや見習いの人々と
軽いレセプションも行われ

その後

訪問記念をした刻版の
除幕式も行われました。

要は、この日って、

これは、さすがに
ロンドンでも現在作ってないので
売っていませんが、、、

このバイカラーのコートは
2014年のNY訪問時に
初お披露目されましたが、
この時もシャーロット王女を妊娠中。

今回は、カジュアルにアレンジ

黒のコートに
黒タートル＋黒スキニー＋黒ロングブーツ

途中でお着替えを考えると
このインナーも納得

コートとブーツを変えて
赤のダウンとスニーカーにチェンジ

全く雰囲気変わりました。

 where they met Mountain Rescue volunteers participating in a vehicle familiarisation exercise.

The Experience Centre offers a behind-the-scenes look at Solihull’s new state-of-the-art production facility demonstrating what it takes to bring to life some of the most technologically advanced cars in the world. A £1.5 billion investment has transformed the location into one of the most advanced car manufacturing facilities in the world. The all-new Aluminium-intensive architecture body shop and final assembly cover an area equivalent to twenty-two football pitches. It's interesting to see the design and development process from this..

Time for a test drive! The Duke and Duchess meet the Mountain Rescue Team at the @JLR_News Experience Centre and each took a car to do some off-road driving.

The Duke drove a bespoke Land Rover Discovery for BritishRedCross, fitted with drone technology

As they arrived, Aston Villa’s Chief executive Keith Wyness greeted Kate with “Welcome back to the home of one of your husband’s other passions.” 
The Duchess, smiling, replied: 
'Yes, he's been very excited by it. 
William, who is President of the Football Association, laughed and said: 'It'll be interesting to see if she's been listening to any of my conversations about football', causing Kate to joke 
'I knew I should have.'

③ Acme Whistles

 visit Acme Whistles, 
creators of the first police whistle and the original Acme Thunderer.


touring the workshop of Acme Whistles where whistles are made for police and sports referees. The family-owned business creates 115,000 whistles every week

Established in 1870, this family-owned business has developed and patented over forty whistle designs during its 147-year history and currently exports to 119 countries worldwide. Today, their modern whistles are used in major sporting events globally and by police forces, including the Metropolitan Police.

They toured the workshop seeing the production process, including the presswork, plating, moulding, welding and polishing of the 115,000 whistles that are made and tested every week.

The 147-year-old, family-owned business still makes its products by hand, including sports whistles used in football and ice hockey. The couple was also given a tour to see the production process, including plating, moulding and welding. They also unveiled a plaque to commemorate their visit.

William joked 
“Don’t show that to George - we’ll never get any peace."


The Express reports talk quickly turned to Lupo:

'During the tour the Duke and Duchess, who have a cocker spaniel called Lupo, were shown dog whistles, which cannot be heard by humans. Clearly knowledgable on the subject, Kate said: 
“There are different pitches for different dogs, aren’t there?” 
Chief executive Simon Topman, who runs the business with his wife Debbie, told William: “Yes, your grandmother would use something that is great for her labradors and retrievers but wouldn’t be for your spaniel. William, 35, who knows his whistles or had been checked before the visit, told him: 
"No, we use a 212."

Silversmith Ray Stone, who plates and polishes commemorative items, including a £5 coin made by Royal Mint to mark Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip‘s platinum wedding anniversary, told William and Kate that the royal family has kept him in a job for years.

“So I’d like to thank the royal family,” he said.
“We aim to please, Ray,” 
William joked.

William made the quip as he and Kate were presented with their personalized gifts — an engraved Air Ministry whistle and a rose gold whistle on a necklace — as well as a selection of musical whistles for George, 4, and Princess Charlotte, 2.

Kate was handed a bag containing an assortment of presents for their children, including two brass Samba whistles, a plastic slide whistle and a wooden duck call



While the Samba whistles are used to play tunes at the carnivals in Rio and in Notting Hill, the slide whistle is best known in Britain for creating the sound of kids’ TV show The Clangers.
