Her Majesty’s 90th Birthday party celebrated the Queen’s love of horses, her dedication to the Commonwealth and international affairs, and her involvement with the Navy, Army and Air Force. Created by the team that organised the Diamond Jubilee Pageant in 2012, technology played an important role in the planning of the event with a fusion of the latest video projection, LED effects and theatrical lighting
The evening is described: "Over 90 minutes, 900 horses and more than 1,500 participants from around the United Kingdom and the World will create a joyful event for the Queen. The 90-year journey will take us from the excitement of the birth, through to World War Two, her marriage, the coronation, and a reign of more than 60 years. The Celebration will use horses, actors, bands and dancers to tell the story."

Acts from around the world have been invited to perform at the birthday event, which was kicked off with a gun salute
Among the large royal party are the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry, Princess Alexandra, Prince Michael of Kent and the Landgrave and Landgravine of Hesse

The two-hour event took the Queen through the key events in her life - a reminder that she had not only reached a record-breaking reign, but has also been a first-hand witness to some of the most momentous events of the past century
One of the first performers was Take That singer Gary Barlow, who performed 'Something About This Night' from the musical Finding Neverland
Dame Shirley Bassey closed the show with a special performance of her hit song 'Diamonds Are Forever'

The real stars of the show were the horses and their riders, who had travelled from as far as Chile, Canada, Oman and Azerbaijan to perform impressive stunts for the Queen
A giant birthday cake was brought into the middle of the arena to honour the Queen
The party ended with performers and spectators singing Happy Birthday to the Queen

”The term Windsor uniform”
is the name of a type of dress worn by male members of the Royal Family (and very senior courtiers) at Windsor Castle.
The uniform was introduced by George III in 1779. The full dress, which had a good deal of gold braid about it, did not survive beyond 1936, but the undress form is still worn today: a dark blue jacket with red facings. It is now worn only at Windsor Castle, and since the reign of King Edward VII has generally been worn only as evening dress (though Charles, Prince of Wales has worn a version of it as a riding coat).
The uniform takes the form of an evening tail coat of dark blue cloth, lapelled, with scarlet collar and cuffs. There are three buttons on each front two at the back of the waist, and two at the end of each tail, and also two on each cuff and one above. The gilt buttons bear a design of a Garter star within a garter, surmounted by the imperial crown. It is worn with a white single-breasted waistcoat with three small gilt buttons of the same pattern, and with plain black evening-dress trousers. When the court is in mourning a black waistcoat and black armband are worn. As well as the tail coat version, the Duke of Edinburgh and the Prince of Wales also wear a dinner jacket version of the coat.
