Their Royal Highnesses viewed one of the Memorial Reflection Pools where they paid their respects to the victims of 9/11 attacks

 Duchess left bouquet of flowers with handwritte note at the Flight 93 panel. Note reads ""In sorrowful memory of those who died on 11th September and in admiration of the courage shown to rebuild, William, Catherine."

 The cards reads:

”the National September 11 Memorial & Museum”
@ the World Trade Center 
 The National September 11 Memorial is a tribute of remembrance and honour to the nearly 3,000 people killed in the terror attacks of 11 September, 2001 at the World Trade Center site and at the Pentagon, as well as the six people killed in the World Trade Center bombing in 1993.

The couple also visited the lobby of One World Trade Center, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere

 in NYC and the CityKids Foundation, to learn about their work on positive youth development and social learning using art

 This morning (December 9, 2014), the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited The Door to see the work it carries out in partnership with the CityKids Foundation. Both organizations focus on programs and projects that promote youth development and social learning.

While they were there, William and Kate learned about the wide-ranging support services on offer to young people to help them reach their potential, particularly through an arts-education model that supports the artistic and intellectual development of the participants.

During the reception in the Velez Blanco patio, the couple mingled with the other 450 guests - who had paid between $2,500 and $10,000 to attend the dinner - surrounded by 16th century marble statues brought over wholesale from a castle in Spain
