The first part of the pageant included a military parade in honour of the Queen, with service personnel from across the UK and the Commonwealth
The second act of the pageant, 'The Time of Our Lives', showed the Queen's reign evolving over decades through fashion and music.
'The Platinum Jubilee Pageant will have all the excitement and spectacle of an international parade and carnival – awe-inspiring and filled with marvel and delight. The Pageant will combine street arts, theatre, music, circus, carnival and costume to celebrate Her Majesty’s unwavering duty, love of the natural world and dedication to the Commonwealth.
The Platinum Jubilee Pageant is inviting children from across the UK to play a part in the ‘River of Hope’ procession. Forming an important part of the Pageant, the procession will comprise of two hundred silk flags which will process down The Mall, emulating a moving river. Primary and secondary school children are invited to create a picture of their hopes and aspirations for the planet over the next 70 years. A selection of these creations will be transferred on to silk flags, which will carried by secondary school pupils. The ‘River of Hope’ section is being choreographed by Kinetika Bloco with music by one hundred young players from London and Edinburgh.
The artwork for the flags will be focused on climate change and incorporates the children’s messages for the future. Teachers from applying schools will be provided with step-by-step guides to creating a beautiful digital artwork with their students, of which 200 will then be selected for the flags. The selected artwork will then also be shown up and down the country on screens as part of the Jubilee
Buckingham Palace said:
"It has been significantly overhauled four times, in 1820 when King George IV acceded (but it was not used for his coronation); in 1902 for the coronation of King Edward VII, and in 1953 for the coronation of The Queen. It was last regilded in 1977 for The Queen’s Silver Jubilee, although in places it bears evidence of between seven and ten layers of gilding and retouching over the past 260 years. The Coach was used at the State Openings of Parliament, by George III, George IV and William IV. Queen Victoria, however, was not fond of the Coach and after Prince Albert’s death in 1861, only opened Parliament seven times and did not make use of the State Coach. King Edward VII revived its use at his Coronation and the annual State Opening of Parliament, and this was continued by King George V from 1922. King George VI made use of it twice following his coronation."

This is too adorable! Louis asked William politely if he could sit on Charles' lap. William asked Charles and he obviously said yes. Charlotte giving him her approval then with her thumb up is too cute!

Prince Louis was on a sugar high! Mike Tindall reveals the four-year-old indulged in 'lots of sweets' during the Platinum Pageant - and says it was a 'long' outing for the royal children
Mike Tindall opened up about Sunday's Jubilee Pageant's behind-the-scenes
Former rugby player, 43, said Prince Louis, four, was 'just wanting to have fun'
Admitted his own kids and cousins got 'sugar high' from candy during the show
'Louis, he was just wanting to have fun. And my two are always mischievous so it's trying to keep a lid on,' the father-of-three said.
And Louis's visible excitement might have been down to the sweets the kids enjoyed during the show, the sportsman added.
'There were a lot of sweets out back though, so there was a real sugar high.'
Mike went on, saying staying quiet at the show had been 'tough' for the young royals.
'They're all young… it's a long time. But as any parents knows you just do whatever needs to be done,' he said.
Mike was the royal family's MVP during the Jubilee celebrations, with fans branding him the 'cool, fun uncle' after he posted a a series of hilarious snaps.
The opening act of the Platinum Jubilee Pageant was a military parade.
It celebrated the UK's Armed Forces from all three Services, along with soldiers from Commonwealth countries including Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Pakistan, Ghana, Belize, Jamaica and Sri Lanka.
The first section of the pageant paid tribute to the people who have served their country during the Queen's reign.
Guardsmen, Gurkhas, Royal Marines and the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment in their breastplates and plumed feathers were among the hundreds of servicemen and women who led the way marching along the streets around Buckingham Palace.
Charles took the salute of various military units when they passed the royal box and he stood to acknowledge the servicemen and women as they passed.

"Act Two: The Time Of Our Lives"
The Time of Our Lives was a sparkling take on British life since 1952.
It went decade by decade, taking a look at the transformation of pop culture from the 50s through to the current decade.
Music and dance styles, fashion, culture and cars brought to life each decade. Meanwhile, double-decker buses were painted in the style of the decade to remind the public of typical moments in those year

Emotional Queen says she is 'humbled and deeply touched' as she thanks the millions who celebrated her Platinum Jubilee - after greeting crowds from the Buckingham Palace balcony to bring 4-day spectacular to a close
The monarch was absent for much of the Bank Holiday weekend, after finding the first day enjoyable but tiring
In a message of thanks, the 96-year-old acknowledged this but said her 'heart' had been with well-wishers
The Queen expressed her hope that this 'renewed sense of togetherness' would be felt for years to come
She was 'humbled and deeply touched' so many had taken part in celebrations marking her 70-year reign .
Surrounded by her family, she was cheered by thousands of well-wishers after stepping on to the balcony
She was joined by Prince Charles, Camilla, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, George, Charlotte and Louis
It came after the Platinum Pageant, which told the story of her life, and the nation, with a carnival-like display
it showed 'an image of a loving extended family' : 'The fact that the three children were standing on the balcony at the end with the Queen sent out a clear message that they are the future and that there are three kings in waiting.'
'The appearances of George Charlotte and Louis were clearly very significant and marked their debut on the public stage.
'George and Charlotte had their first royal walkabout in Cardiff and it will be the first of many!
'Prince Charles once said that the day he realised he would one day be king and that his destiny was mapped out for him was a tremendous shock, and I often wonder whether it's dawned on George yet.
'He seems quite shy but he’s going to have to get used to it so introducing them at a national event where the focus isn’t just on them was a good idea to slowly introduce them to royal duties.'
A thank you message from Her Majesty The Queen following the Platinum Jubilee weekend
"When it comes to how to mark seventy years as your Queen, there is no guidebook to follow. It really is a first. But I have been humbled and deeply touched that so many people have taken to the streets to celebrate my Platinum Jubilee.
"While I may not have attended every event in person, my heart has been with you all; and I remain committed to serving you to the best of my ability, supported by my family.
"I have been inspired by the kindness, joy and kinship that has been so evident in recent days, and I hope this renewed sense of togetherness will be felt for many years to come.
"I thank you most sincerely for your good wishes and for the part you have all played in these happy celebrations."
