BATSUB works alongside the local community, to protect and restore this natural environment from trafficking & illegal logging.
One of those organisations is Friends for Conservation and Development, and we are delighted that they have today become a member of @united4wildlifepic.twitter.com/LH3eUwn19N

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge headed deep into the jungle for the second full day of their Caribbean tour.
Dressed in casual clothes and sunglasses, Will and Kate visited ancient Mayan ruins at an archaeological site in western Belize, close to the border with Guatemala.
As they climbed the 43m-tall, 3000-year-old, Caracol, or "sky palace", Archaeologist Allan Moore told them its history.
It would have once been the centre of a community of around 200,000 people, and yet it was only re-discovered by an explorer in 1937.
The Duke got the giggles when he realised the photographers, who were surrounding them from all angles, would be in each other’s shots. "We've got one [group] one side and another the other,” he laughed. “You are in each other's photographs.”
After visiting the archaeological site, Will and Kate remained in the jungle, to meet with the BATSUB (British Army Training Support Unit), which gives tropical environment training to British troops and international partners.
The Palace has said it was “a trip down memory lane” for the Duke spent some time with the unit, under the guidance of the Welsh Guards, during his gap year between Eton College and St. Andrew's University.

Prince William proved his survival skills as drank rainwater from a vine whilst on a visit to a British Army Training Support Unit at the Chiquibul Forest Reserve, Belize.
The duke was taught the essentials techniques at the same camp when he was 18-years-old at the start of his gap year in 2000, and reunited with his former Sandhurst sergeant major who now runs the unit.

The Duke of Cambridge has said he stands in solidarity with Ukraine whose "vigilance to safeguard democracy was being tested" whilst at the governor's reception at Cahal Pech, Belize.
Quoting the Queen's own speech on social justice on her 1994 tour of the country, he praised it for condemning the invasion of Ukraine and standing up for the principle of peace and security.

spoke out against the Ukraine invasion in a speech in front of the Mayan ruins saying: 'Belize has joined many others in condemning the invasion and standing up for the principles of international law, peace and security. We think of those struggling in Ukraine and we stand with them in solidarity'
He told the guests:
'She said 'I am proud to associate myself with your determination that social justice and personal freedom should flourish under the rule of law.
'It is always dangerous, however, to be complacent and to assume that democratic values will look after themselves. Vigilance in protecting them is needed'.'
In his speech delivered in the early hours, he added: 'Her Majesty went on to say that 'Most of all, democracy is safe-guarded by teamwork - the individual wills of all citizens, each pulling together towards the same objective'.
'Sadly, elsewhere in the world, that vigilance is being tested today in Ukraine. Belize has joined many others in condemning the invasion and standing up for the principles of international law, peace and security.
'Today we think of those struggling in Ukraine and we stand with them in solidarity.'
William, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall have all spoken out in support of Ukraine in recent weeks, as the country battles Russian forces after President Vladimir Putin's troops invaded the country almost four weeks ago.
The duke also passed on the 'very warmest wishes from my grandmother, the Queen of Belize', on the occasion of her Platinum Jubilee'
Speaking about his son George during the reception held to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, the duke said 'We let them know where we are and he finds us on the map and puts a pin in it and shares with the others.'
